Note: This is set in the Motherless Child timeline, wherein Snape and Lupin adopt an orphaned werewolf child. Johnny, their son, is about thirteen.


"You're doing this 'cause I'm adopted!" Johnny's shout echoed in the front hall. "I hate you!"

"That just added an hour to your punishment," said Remus. His voice was steady despite his sudden pallor. "Go to your room, or it will only get worse."

"I - "

"I know. You hate me. Your room now."

Severus watched as the boy's head lowered and he stomped upstairs, deliberately making as much noise as possible.

"You handled that with remarkable calm."

"I'm the alpha." Remus rubbed his forehead when the door slammed. "Damn adolescence."

"He'll grow out of it," Severus said.

"Eventually."
