"Minerva stepped out onto the balcony of her office and gazed down into the courtyard. Severus and Remus sat on a stone bench, bareheaded despite the cold. As she watched, Severus pointed to Remus' bad leg, listened for a moment, then nodded.

"Well, Minerva?"

"Chatting quietly." She stepped back into the room. Her predecessor's portrait would be insufferably smug, but he had been right all along. "They sat next to each other at the staff meeting."

"Ah, excellent! Please do tell me when Severus has a new patronus? ''Tis spring, and a young man's fancies - '"

"I will, Albus."
