"And now, let us welcome our newest teacher, who is joining us for spring. Severus?" Minerva nodded at the door. Snape, bite scar still faintly visible on his neck, stood hesitantly on the threshold.

No one moved until Lupin, who had a permanent limp tanks to Dolohov's curses, forced himself upright and began to applaud. The rest of the faculty, one by one, stood and joined in.

"Thank you." Snape's voice would always be hoarse. "When I was last here - "

Lupin gestured at the chair beside him. "It's a time for new beginnings, Severus."

Severus took his place.
