Entering stage left is everyone's favorite sky pirate -- or at least that is what Nicolai's ego told him. It was a "fact" that was anything but the truth as anyone who knew him and Victor were well aware he was not high on Victor's list favorite people. A fact the egotistical rogue commonly overlooked. How could he help his charms had won the heart of the fair Avatari? The beautiful first mate who had somehow not entered with him. How unusual. This wasn't the bar he had intended to raid. Shrugging, he figured a bar was a bar. As long as he could taste the bittersweet taste of his favorite vice, or second favorite if Ava was near, he could manage survival. Signaling the barmaid once he found his barstool of choice, Nicolai investigates his surroundings. He should be alarmed at his disposition, but a man who had been through what he had certainly could keep his head straight as he figured everything out.

There was a young woman near him, her hair a bright artificial red. She was pale and looked as if she were hiding inside the long black coat she wore. What was strange was the fact that the things around her tended to vanish when people blinked while looking in her direction.

In fact, if someone were really paying attention, they'd notice said objects vanishing into her coat. Blink and one may have missed a chair going into the coat, yet the coat showed no signs of being anything but a simple piece of clothing. Oh look, there went a bowl of peanuts. Whoops, someone just lost their shoe.. that they were wearing.

She was awfully close to the newcomer now. Would he notice if something went missing?

At first, the sky pirate had barely noticed the woman coming near him. Instead he had been distracted on assessing what exactly had happened to him and how he had managed to get here. While his life was anything but "run-of-the-mill", this certainly was high on his strange scale.

It was when Nicolai's hand reached for his favorite compass that he had taken more notice of her. Or anyone close enough to have snatched the prized possession. It had become his favorite toy since -- well since he had found it yesterday in one of their many treasure hunts.

Noticing other things "mysteriously" disappearing when the woman came near, he pondered for a moment his most reasonable course of action. Surely outright accusing her could send her running and then he'd have to find something else shiny to entertain him for the evening. And that was anything but acceptable.

Adara felt like someone was watching her. Surely no one was paying attention to her, were they? She didn't like eyes on her. She pulled her coat tighter around her as if it would make her vanish. Of course it didn't.. but hey, a jack-o-lantern did. Of course, that didn't shake the feeling of being watched, so she started to look around with a skittish look on her face.

Was it possible he was seeing a festive piece disappear into her coat rather than being taken? Or was it possible he was cracking up? How was it humanly possible to fit all those items into one seemingly normal coat?

"Excuse me," Nicolai finally spoke to her, "But I believe your jacket ate my compass."

Yes, that did sound just as insane being verbalized as it did in his head.

Her mouth formed a small 'o' shape and she stepped back. Then she realized what he had said. Huh. She couldn't recall anyone putting it that way before. Adara found that she kind of liked it. She smiled at him and pulled the compass out of her pocket. Her coat ate things. That was just.. fitting.

"This?" Her smile faltered a moment, but only because she knew she was going to have to speak. And even as she held up the compass she seemed to almost absent mindedly pull a barstool into her coat.. which must have set alarm bells in someone's head since the seats were attached to the floor.

Ah, his favorite shiny thing of the moment now was within the redhead's hands. At least it seemed to be in perfect condition.

"That would be it," he confirmed, "You may want to get that coat looked at. I am thinking it is possessed by a tapeworm."

A charming smile came to his face as if to show he felt no malice for the item in question that had gone missing. Even if he was a bit alarmed at her coming near him with that hungry coat of hers. It may decide he was a delicious morsel.

She handed the item back to him even as she expressed her confusion. A tapeworm? She quickly hugged her coat closer. "Nothing wrong. S'my world."

As if to prove it, she pulled out a globe of the planet Earth. "Finders keepers, everything goes." It made sense to her. She wasn't crazy, she was just Adara.

Shaking his head, he decided to shake off the "tapeworm" comment. It wasn't as if it was important anyway. Just one of his many offhand statements.

"Something tells me that not everyone is going to agree with you," he reasoned with her. Most people would miss the things they "lost" with her near.

"S'ok. They ask, I return." No matter where she was it was always so hard for her to speak. Her halting way of speech could be annoying to others and it bothered her as well. She spun the globe once and then she slipped it back into her coat. "Nothing lost, only found. Every place, every thing."

He noticed the woman's discomfort and wondered if he should allow her to scamper off without continuing the conversation. She returned his item after all and that was all he was looking to get from her.

"At least you return," he nods as if to approve of the action, "Thanks for not making me wrestle you for my compass back."

She was always uncomfortable when socializing, even when selling. Especially when they weren't from her circle. It was a necessary thing even if she always did want to skitter away to the shadows.

"Didn't mean to. Happens though. Found a knife once, he wanted it back. S'nice that one." He had called it stealing, but she didn't grasp the concept. Stealing was when you took it n purpose. She didn't do that. "I find, I keep, I sell. Found a truck once. Want to buy?"

Oh good, it was always a good sign when she could get them interested in buying. She smiled and began to hum an old lullaby as she began to pull 'shiny' objects from her coat. There was plenty if jewelry of all kinds, a pair of bronzed baby shoes, a box of aluminum foil, a silver bumper off of a car, some tin cans, a silver monkey's paw, and even various types of silverware and weaponry. "Like anything?"

She'd have pulled out some of the bigger items, like the automobiles, the bumper cars, and such, but she didn't think they'd be appreciated in this building.

Ava stepped through the doors and a slight look of surprise filtered across her usually cool exterior. This was interesting. Her first instinct was to survey her surroundings to look for any threat. Her hand was already gripping the handle of her whip at her waist when her gaze fell upon the sign warning against violence. She stared at the sign and read it thoroughly before scoffing just a bit at it all.

Perhaps that damn scholar had tainted the ship's food supply. If so, this was a very realistic hallucination. She ran a hand through her hair and her eyes finally settled on one of her favorite sights.

Her arms folded across her chest and she strolled over to the bar. She took a seat next to her favorite captain. "Tell me my good man," She began with a playful tone, "Is this my hallucination or yours?"

When his ears were touched with the sound of Avatari's tone, a grin perked up on his face. He now could be trapped eternally in this bizarre, alternate universe, with things that made even Hyun-ki seem humanoid, and be happy. All of his fortunes could surely be "found" a second time. The woman at his side could never be replaced as simply.

"Ah, I have to say it must be yours. Aside from the fact the supernatural seems to be more your expertise, if this was my hallucination, I am positive you'd be wearing much less," he confesses with a corner of his lips moving to form a playful grin.

An eyebrow curved upward at his comment before she gestured for the bartender to get her a drink. Ava returned her attention to the man beside her and the corners of her mouth threatened to form a smile. "Would I now? I'm not entirely sure I approve of such behavior. Perhaps this is truly your hallucination and you think you deserve to be punished for something. My appearance could just be the start of whatever it is you may deserve."

She placed her arm on the counter and leaned her chin into the palm of her waiting hand. Be it hallucination or not, life was always bearable and better as long as her captain was in the vicinity. It was the one truth she truly held about existence as she knew it. "Of course, if this was my hallucination, who's to say you should be here?" Of course, it didn't hurt to try and knock his ego down a few pegs for amusement's sake.

"You never seem to disapprove of my fantasies coming to life any other time," he informed her, his cocky nature knowing no bounds, "If I am down in the books for punishment in the form of you, then bring on the punishment I say."

Grinning at her despite her blow toward his ego, he felt the need to educate her just how much she desired it to be him near, "Yeah, I suppose the brooding Malik Hiram would have made this hallucination far more exciting for you, huh?"

"Perhaps I only approve because I know how much I'll get in return, my captain." Her drink had arrived and she took a small sip to sample the goods. Not bad. "You seem rather excited about this possible punishment.. how do you know that I'm not just here to tease you and then leave you to your one true vision of nightmares? Perhaps Hyun will arrive with one of your precious statues at his arm."

She had a choice with his comment. Laugh or.. "Perhaps he would. At least he'd bring Malise and that would be worth the hallucination there. Or maybe I was expecting someone else entirely. Perhaps a figment of my imagination. An incorruptible source of inspiration and perfection." Ava took another drink. "Or maybe my hallucinations merely involve the triumph of finding something new and shiny for my collection."

A look of disapproval came to his face as he bemoaned, "My beloved statues. Whatever did they do to deserve such... attention?" If this was his hallucination, he'd dream an anti-Hyun serum to life.

"Malise...," he started thoughtfully, "How did such a pure being come to fall into the arms of such a brutish man? Surely he easily could crush such a beautiful flower."

"What better shiny object is there for you aside from me?," he posed the rhetorical question to her. If he was to seriously ask her the question, she'd surely have something witty to push in his direction.

"Perhaps the merely feel neglected by you and have decided to seek adoration and validation elsewhere." It was wrong of her to encourage thoughts about the eccentric scholar, but Nicolai's reactions always made it worth while.

She paused thoughtfully. "Opposites attract, or so they say. The two of them balance each other out in ways few get to experience in this life."

His ego certainly was in rare form today, wasn't it. Ava stared at him warily. She could roll her eyes at his rhetoric but where in the world would the fun be in that? "I'm not entirely sure I could call you shiny. I see a few tarnished spots here and there.. Perhaps you need to clean up your act a bit."

"At least if they were going to leave me for someone else, they could use better taste," he reasoned with her, showing he did not approve of their abandonment one bit.

Malise and Malik definitely proved the opposites attract theory. The two seemed to have nothing in common, but even still they seemed to fit somehow. One of the world's small wonders.

Raising his eyebrows as if to ask 'is that so?' without literally speaking the words, he adjusts himself on his barstool before replying. "We both know if you wanted the perfect, shiny man you'd still be on Victor's arm. Just admit you like things a little dirty." A smug grin completed the statement as if to show he had complete confidence in the words.

"Ah, but he no doubt gives them the respect and attention they so desire. He doesn't just collect them and leave them to their own devices." No, he conversed with them.. which was strange enough on its own.

Ava tried not to question Malise and Malik anymore. They had gone to far lengths to get to the places they could and if anything, proved her early concerns wrong. Sometimes.. sometimes it was nice to be wrong.

He was right, to an extent. But for her to actually admit to it without a fight, so to speak, would be uncharacteristic of her. "Maybe you're right. Or maybe its an addiction that is just too hard to ignore and I'm much like a junkie always looking for her next fix."

"You're on his side," he accused, "Just to torment me I am certain."

Reaching for her free hand, he brings it to his lips, kissing it before returning it to it's original location. This time the hand wasn't left alone as he kept it within his, "If it keeps you coming back to me, I have to support this addiction. For selfish reasons, of course."

She kicked him lightly for the accusation. "No, captain, I'm on my own side. I torment for my own benefit."

Ava had to smile at him now. It was what could be considered 'simple' gestures from that always set her at peace with everything. "Oh, of course you would. Your motives are as selfish as my own. I'm not just the shiniest jewel in that treasure trove you've acquired over the years, I'm also one of the most rare."

A wicked grin coming to his face, showing what was to come would be anything but innocent, he tells her, "I have my own forms of torment to perform on you in private that will make you wish you had been kinder to me."

It was true. She was the rarest of all his treasures. Completely priceless as well. A jewel he would not exchange for anything in any world in any dimension. A charming smile came to his face momentarily before he nodded to show that he agreed in more than just his thoughts.

"I wonder what trouble we could get ourselves into in before we are allowed to return?"

She feigned worry and gasped. "You wouldn't dare. I happen to be an upstanding person, kind to all that deserve it." That wasn't really true and even she could barely keep a straight face at that. But she tried to.

She tapped her chin as she pondered over the possibilities. "I think you'll do all the trouble making, captain. I'm the innocent one of the two of us. In fact, I'm rather sure you'll be thrown into this place's equivalent of the brig within the hour." She was very sure on this, even if she had to help it along just to prove herself right.

Well, well, look what the sirens called in...

Sitting at the bar and sipping from a glass of what appeared to be wine, one of the 'Porn Stars' of the pirate ships watched as the captain came in. She always enjoyed the crowds and variety that were in such a place, but sometimes the familiar was not unwelcome. Smirking, she ran a finger along the rim of her glass and eyed him. "While the caps away, the mice will play..."

Hearing the tone of the beautiful seductress, the former captain found a grin on his face at her words. He seemed to be in thought for a brief moment before he corrected her, "Some play with or without the presence of the captain."

"Well, the mice can't play alone..." she replied with a smirk, the implication rather clear as to just what kind of play she was implying. Or, at least what kind of play everyone thought she was implying. Tilting her head slightly, she watched him. "Even caps find time to play around some."

"All work and no play make the captain a dull boy," he agreed. The sky pirate had his own share of playing games. Just not with the woman he was speaking to. He was one of few who had not been lured into her tempting hands. Fear was a grand motivator. And the thoughts of Avatari's earlier mentioned punishment was definitely something that could instill fear within.

One of the very few. Men and women included. But the offer was always open should he, or any of the others, choose to accept it. Kid wasn't one to hold a grudge. "And we all know how best it is to keep a sword sharp," she agreed, smiling, before gesturing to the empty seat next to her.

It was an offer he hoped to never take. While he could bank on her making it worth his time, that would mean something disagreeable happened between himself and Avatari and that would suck all the worth out of it.

Coming nearer to her, his mind came to a random realization, "You don't seem too alarmed that you're here. Can you offer me any answers to where and why I am here?"

The hunter was one of few people he had a difficult being certain he knew what she meant. At times it was as if she created her own private jokes and you had to be intelligent enough to catch them or you missed out on the laughter. "Mmm," he hummed thoughtfully as if he wasn't sure if he should dare to touch the statement. Certainly it could be wrong of him to encourage her. Especially a woman who needed little encouragement to begin with.

"Tonight I believe my dinner is in the form of a liquid," he grinned to her.

Kid's smile grew into a matching grin, her eyes dancing with mirth as she propped an elbow on the counter, and tucked her chin on top of it as she peered at him. Mmm, someone seemed to forget how very easy it was for the skilled hunter to twist meaning. "And who will be providing the liquid? I hope you do not intend to dine alone..."

People would hear in her words what they thought they should hear often enough. It was the joy of double language, even when she did not fully realize she was using it.

The woman was truly wicked. How could such an angelic looking being think so wickedly? It was so much so, that he almost spit out his drink in surprise at the coming words.
