Quistis lingered a while in that state between wakefulness and sleep. For someone who often had issues sleeping, she'd managed pretty well the previous night, and she was loathe to commit to waking entirely. It was a slow process, dreams fading into some forgotten place as the rest of her senses gradually filtered in. She could smell food cooking, something she had come to associate with mornings with Seifer. Quistis took a deep, contented breath and exhaled slowly as she stretched, a long and almost cat-like movement, savoring the uninterrupted feel of sheets against skin.
I'm going to get up, she told herself. I absolutely am. She opened one eye and peered around the room, attempting to dredge up the energy to do much more than that. Her phone was blinking on the bedside table. Quistis wished she could have turned the damn thing off and stashed it in her suitcase for the majority of the trip, but in the odd event that she had a nightmare -- or worse yet, a flashback -- she needed the security of the thing being nearby. She reached for the device and checked her notifications, finding Seifer had already been on the Balamb Network. Quistis smiled softly to herself as she read through the post and looked at the pictures. Should have seen that one coming, she thought. She typed up a reply, just as much to let him know that she was awake as it was to inform him that he was, in fact, an asshole, and yes she still loved him for it. Quistis was awake now, but her motivation to get out of bed was drifting away. She felt utterly at peace with the world.
