In a mad rush I finished my two sets for season20in20 on LJ and lotr20in20 on DW.

First up is my claim for season20in20 which is the newly started Marvel's Agent of SHIELD. I've seen the first 6 episodes so far and am loving it. Now that I'm not rushing to get things done, I might even have time again to watch the next two episodes. :)
A funny annecdote about making the icons: I kept starting to make icons for colour splash (after making the b/w icon) only to decide that it should be the b/w icon instead!

This one is from the end of October!

This one features my latest completed claim for dailyicons (dreamwidth) which was TV Show pairings (and boy did I keep on wanting to do movie pairings because they appeared to be a perfect fit!) and my icons for round 16 @ tvshow20in20. I tried to icon less of Sherlock once I was done with the themes and realised that most of them are Sherlock, but I didn't manage to keep him entirely out of them :) I guess it's pretty obvious who my favourite character is ;)

Original Note for dailyicons: For some reason it's harder and harder to decide what to claim after I'm finished with a claim (while I sometimes can think of dozens when I don't have a spot open!). In order to avoid "missing" iconing a specific fandom, I figured I'd do something multi-fandom :D
Hopefully I won't regret excluding movies ;)

Anyway, I feel like making icons of couples and since I'm a multi-shipper as well we have a claim @ dailyicons (dreamwidth). In all likelyhood this will contain slash and het pairings, but you're also welcome to take any of those as general icons as well :)

For some reason I thought "I don't have to pick images, I'll be done rather quickly with this set - let's start with it even though it's due later then the others"... needless to say it took me several days to get the icons done and I went completely overboard! After only 9 images I already had 30+ icons. I dare say that it's no wonder that I ended up with 70!
Some were easier to icon than others (whether it was finding any crop that I thought worked or being entirely unhappy with all colourings - in comparison to that were those icons where I could see several interesting crops and the colouring hardly needed any effort). Either way - I had a lot of fun :)

Any way, these were made for the Battle Round @ tvshow20in20 (LJ) and this post will only see the light of day after the Winners are announced. I'm just coding this as I'm done so it's out of the way (and I don't mix up alternates with submissions!)

Edit: And the winners have been revealed! And to my utter shock I won both the set and 4 out of 5 placements! I didn't really expect a near walk through!

Since I conveniently finished my set for season20in20 (LJ) as well, I'm going to attach it to this post :)

These were made for round 36 @ doctorwho20in20 and I've never found myself despairing over screencaps as much as I did for these. I prefer having them on my computer to scroll through using Picasa and I could only find a couple of screencaps for season 3 and EoT when it comes to the era of the 10th Doctor. There are various galleries, but not some of them have rather small caps since they're already older. (Yes, the quality of the newer seasons and those HD movies are totally spoiling me!)

Now I just have to see about getting my set for bbc_uk_20in20 done. I think I might be able to see all of my claims finished this months despite what I had thought during the last week. The low turn out for doctorwho20in20 and being the mod there certainly helped for this set (and I'm so happy I wasn't the only one to profit from the extension ;) )

These are for round 3 @ bbc_uk_20in20! I picked Pride & Prejudice (2005) for the Category set and while I made 3 times as many I needed, I was fervently trying to decide what I wanted to do for the AC set (I was caught between Demons and something Doctor Who related)... until I figured with the excess of icons I made I might as well use some of them for the AC set :D
It certainly saves me from having to pick 5 out of 16 (2 of those being slight colouring variations)... now it's just 10 out of 16 :D

I'm also shocked to realise that I know so very little shows/movies this time around. While I love the costumes, I'm not the type for love stories which keeps me far away from most costume dramas and of the other movies I've watched About a Boy in the cinema (on a school trip to Wales where nobody had a choice about what to watch) and while I do own Love Actually on DVD I've only really watched the first 20 minutes or so (I actually bought it because it was cheap and featured plenty of actors I knew/liked). The TV Shows are equally bleak - I watched the first season of Merlin, the original pilot for Being Human (I really should have given the recasting for season 1 a chance! Well, I'm fixing that...) and heard of Primeval.

Still, I ended up enjoying making most icons :D

Making these icons I've come to realise that I shouldn't claim things I've never made icons of before. I crossed of themes to make (and in some cases making various variations) only to find a screencap I deemed perfect for that prompt and going back and making more alternates of it! And that's on top of just not knowing what I wanted to do with something or plain and simple experimenting. That is to say, I really loved a screencap for a prompt only to find that it didn't really work for what I had in mind and instead of just not saving it, I kept playing around and tried to force it to fit. However, I think some results are worth the struggles. Others were on the difficult side to colour - I just had to go for screencaps that were heavy on one colour or another.

No matter what, I'm mostly proud of the results (aside from those last couple of icons I made maybe where did the most minimal work since I just wanted to be done and my neck and shoulders were starting to cramp) and I was quite shocked to realise I had made 52 icons! Also, I expected to make more Doctor icons... Now I just have to decide which ones to use for my 20 icons. These were made for round 2 @ bbc_uk_20in20 on LJ :D

Didn't I say just yesterday that I had decided not to do the season20in20 one this month? Well, I don't know whether it was making all those icons of the fourth Doctor or getting those done early or I don't know what. Today I felt like making those icons and I got them all done this afternoon. Although it took me a good hour longer than I had planned for while I was at work! Then again, I think I'm setting that time too short... I really need to factor the actual image search/choice in with the icon making (or in this case making screencaps, although I did a good number of those while I made them for the fourth Doctor). Maybe it's just that third time's the charm! The last two rounds I failed to complete I had decided to make icons for exactly this season!

This month I only signed up for one 20in20. I just drew a blank when thinking about what I wanted to do for season20in20 and I've come to realise that if my heart's not in it - the icons won't get finished. Well, I was in to this claim :) (although at one point I wished I had chosen Sarah Jane as before I made these icons I had more screencaps of her!)

Anyway, my icons for round 32 of doctorwho20in20. The screencaps are mainly (if not all) from the episode arcs Robot and The Sontaran Experiment from season 12.

I've also "discovered" a new colouring that I've been playing with. Mostly during the last two icon battles with dani_meows that have yet to be posted (the first due to the fact that the computer ate some of her icons and the second because I we just exchanged images for that shortly before she went offline for two weeks which haven't ended yet ;D)

So, after finishing 2 out of 3 20in20s this month, I just had to sign up for another one. I really felt like doing it even if I've been lacking inspiration. A part of me feels that I tend to stay far too safe, going by the same routine for every icon. I think in this my main problem is actually picture choice, followed by going the safe route while making icons - after all I know I tend to like the result of my "standard" icon procedure. Still, being able to icon several different fandoms (even if I don't know all), did help in that regard.

Another part that helped was probably the "off-schedule" timing. The majority of 20in20s go from the 1st to the 20th and this one started on the 20th/21st. A time when my mind isn't pressuring me to just get those sets done :)

Now if only I could get those other things on my to-do list done! There are plenty of fics to post (but I'm still stuck at uploading old ones to Ao3) and a few more to type up and finish. I really need to take stock of which stories I have on my hard drive that are waiting to be posted.

And now I should get to the icons and quit rambling ;D
