Niks was talking, but Evan was doing his best to not hear anything past her words. Hearing would mean he knew what she was doing, knowing would mean picturing. He didn't need to be picturing Niks' actions right now. Not during this conversation. Not until they'd both determined what needed to be done for them to be settled.
So he was surprised by the warmth of her against his back, and her arms around his torso. He hadn't expected it, and had been focused so adamantly on not hearing that he hadn't noticed her movements across the room.
"Thank you." His voice was low and gravely. Evan's hand moved to hers to trap her where she was. He wasn't entirely sure they needed to be any closer than what they were at the moment, so he was going to make the moment last as long as physically possible.
