Who: Septima Vector and OPEN
What: Septima's alone time isn't going too well...
When: Friday evening
Where: Ravenclaw Tower
Summary: Rating tbd

Normally, Septima didn't like sitting with her back to an open room. It made her feel oddly vulnerable and exposed, which was the last thing she needed when she wished to relax with one of the many texts that the common room bookshelves had to offer. Tonight, however, she was unusually dispassionate. Having returned from the library with a large stack of the new Arithmancy magazines that the department had recently ordered - for she was trying to take comfort in her beloved numbers - she sat herself in the armchair by a wall hanging, which hid her slightly, pulled up an empty coffee table towards her, set the magazines upon it and chose one, curling up in the chair to read.

She'd been there for at least fifteen minutes when she realised that despite the common room being almost empty, she couldn't concentrate. Septima shook herself as she realised that something was on her mind enough to cause her to re-read the same page over and over without taking it in, and although she tried to hide the thought, it was no good - she knew exactly what was getting to her. Simply put, with her own issues at the moment, she hadn't been there for the others when she probably should have been. The realisation that she was a bad friend as well as a bad daughter - in her own clouded view - just made her feel worse.

She closed the heavy magazine and tossed it loosely back onto the table with a loud rustle of pages, and leaned back, rubbing her temples with her fingertips. Surely something could happen to take her mind off things?

At the last comment, Septima managed a small smile. It was true to an extent - the reason she and Delia worked well with Merwyn as Chasers, she felt, was that they were alike in the idea of being fairly straight with the facts and not like the girls who were OTT about every aspect of their lives.

"It's the boys" she said, relaxing a little. "I can't help but feel I'm being a bit of a useless friend at the moment."

"Is it terrible I had no idea that they boys were having trouble, Damocles is terribly hard to read though." Delia understood why, people were so free with their emotions and every little thought, she preferred to keep her cards close to the chest. "I'm positive they're willing to look past that, especially Merwyn, as he is one of the kindest people I know." She pointed out.

"Is he still having his birthday party tomorrow? Maybe we can do something kind for him, make a cake, or help decorate before he can put the work in." She offered.

"That's true" she mumbled. They were good guys and would probably forgive her transgressions, though it didn't make her feel much better for having messed about in the first place.

"Again, true" she said, he mind beginning to whirr with thoughts and ideas about what to do. "Possibly a kitchen visit to see what we can get for the party as well?"
