Summary: Everybody parties at the Halloween Ball!

This is your ball post, everyone! Here's how this will go.

Different locations in the Great Hall will be posted as separate comments, which will include a little description of each. These will be the Entrance Hall, the Dance Floor, and the Tables. You should reply to any/all of these comments with your character, and if other characters reply to that subthread, they are interacting with your character. Please indicate in the subject whether your character's subthread is open or whether it has participants in mind already (EG, maybe John is at the ball and taking a break from dancing at the tables, waiting to see if someone comes up to him, so the title for his comment would be "Jack/Open", but maybe Jill is meeting Adam at the ball, so she would reply to the Entrance Hall thread with "Jill/Adam" in the subject).

Please wait to reply the ball until all the comment locations are up. Backdating of threads/journals related to the ball is allowed until Tuesday, and posting placeholders is not allowed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM the mod account!

The dance was going perfectly for one Theodore Jordan. He'd decided to go solo simply because that meant he could dance with as many ladies as he wanted (never mind he hadn't been able to find a date because he'd procrastinated or lost his touch). He was happy with the decision, and even MORE happy with his costume choice for the evening. In true Teddy fashion, his costume had to be amusing, and it definitely showcased the arrogance he was so famous for. While at a costume shop in muggle London, his father had pointed out an idea that they both found too perfect and amusing to pass up. It was a gigantic box, complete with gift wrapping and a bow on the sides; the top of which when on his curly poofed head. There was a gift tag sticking out to one side that read: "To-Women From-God". Teddy had been tempted to add something that said 'you're welcome' to complete the god's gift to women joke, but decided against it at the last minute.

Once he arrived, he went around greeting friends, and was definitely pleased with how much praise he got for his idea. He soaked up the praise, and then Teddy headed for the punch table; which then led to a rousing trip to the dance floor. It was a little difficult to dance with the box surrounding his body, but of course he made do. At least he thought he was until he did a particularly enthusiastic spin and felt the corner of his box jab someone behind him. Attempting to turn and apologize, Teddy just hoped it wasn't some poor girl or something.

Remus started becoming a little more comfortable, letting himself get lost in the atmosphere, Dorcas smile and laugh every time he tried to act like her knew what he was doing while dancing. It was nearly a perfect night.

He stumbled forward a step of two, knocking into Dorcas and nearly stepping on her dress. Remus spun around a bit quicker than normal, looking quite pissed at first until he saw it Teddy and then saw Teddy's costume, at which he let out a loud laugh.

"Bloody hell, Ted, you thought a costume that large was really a good idea? I must say, mate, that is quite an ingenious idea though." Remus gave the young Gryffindor a jesting punch on the shoulder, but was smiling. "Good to see you're enjoying yourself."

Dorcas smiled to herself as Remus whispered in her ear, rather enjoying the closeness. When his face was in view again she shook her head in reassurance before grinning at him. "I'll be the embarrassing one, trust me. I was accident prone in ballet classes. The other students had to stay a few meters away from me for their safety!" She laughed, her voice much louder than usual as she tried to be heard over the music. Okay, so maybe she was exaggerating a little to make him feel better, nevertheless once he grabbed one of her hands she grabbed the other and started dancing. She was a little hesitant at first but soon after she grew used to the music and her body started to move along with the beat. Every so often she grinned up at Remus, and occasionally giggling to herself as she tried her best to move in her dress.

Dorcas was taken a little back when Remus stumbled into her, though her smile didn't fade for a second. She steadied herself by grabbing one of Remus' arms before she tilted her head, peering over Remus to see who had bumped into him. Immediately Dorcas bursted out in a fit of laughter as she took in Teddy's costume. She had brought her right hand up to her mouth, a little shocked but amused all the same. Dorcas moved closer to Teddy, settling next to Remus before her giggles faded. "You look brilliant, Teddy!" She beamed at the fifth year, her breath still occasionally broken with her laughter.

"I'll confess I didn't really think of how the box would do! I should've put a softening charm on it, yeah?" Teddy didn't look embarrassed, however, especially since his friends seemed to think the costume was amusing. He did a little twirl as Dorcas giggled, and tried to bow with a flourish as much as the box would allow; which was not much. "Why thank you, my lady!" Despite his charming grin, he would never think seriously of flirting with Reamus' date. Teddy might be a flirt, but he was not stupid.

As he did another interpretive dance move, he eyed their costumes with a critical stare. "I have no idea what you two are going as, but the costumes are bloody brilliant. Seem much easier to dance in at least," he observed with a nod. Culture was a bit lost on the young man, but Teddy tried.

Dorcas's dancing skills made Remus smile and feel more comfortable about himself. She wasn't laughing at him, staring at him like some sort of alien or anything like that. Her laughing and smiling made him light up. For a brief second, Remus considered pulling her closer but he stopped himself. Slowly, he reminded himself.

Remus smirked as he watched Teddy show off a bit for them; the 5th year was always good for a laugh but he had to admit that the box was probably the most inconvenient costume he had seen last night.

"Phantom of the Opera, mate," he informed the young man. He put one hand casually on Dorcas's hip, hoping she wouldn't mind. At the moment, well, they weren't really dancing but moving just a bit to stop from being run into. "Much easier to dance in than that, yeah. You want to get anything to drink or keep dancing for a bit?"
