Characters: Everyone!
Setting: Great Hall, evening of Saturday, 30 October
Content: SFW
Summary: Everybody parties at the Halloween Ball!

This is your ball post, everyone! Here's how this will go.

Different locations in the Great Hall will be posted as separate comments, which will include a little description of each. These will be the Entrance Hall, the Dance Floor, and the Tables. You should reply to any/all of these comments with your character, and if other characters reply to that subthread, they are interacting with your character. Please indicate in the subject whether your character's subthread is open or whether it has participants in mind already (EG, maybe John is at the ball and taking a break from dancing at the tables, waiting to see if someone comes up to him, so the title for his comment would be "Jack/Open", but maybe Jill is meeting Adam at the ball, so she would reply to the Entrance Hall thread with "Jill/Adam" in the subject).

Please wait to reply the ball until all the comment locations are up. Backdating of threads/journals related to the ball is allowed until Tuesday, and posting placeholders is not allowed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM the mod account!

Mia was enjoying her time with Molly and Mary. She owed a great deal to her mate for convincing her to come to the dance anyway, and there was a birthday to celebrate! Not to mention she had had some punch and her head felt like it was floating away. After dancing for what seemed like hours, since it was one thing she was most passionate about, she decided to stop and take a small break to talk with her friends. The last thing Amelia Bones expected was for a very familiar face to come out of nowhere quite suddenly. She nearly jumped when Tiberius came over to her without hesitation, though she did gape for a few seconds as her stomach did a few flips. Casting a glance at Molly, she then swallowed and returned her eyes to him with no less confusion on pretty face. Yet amongst all that confusion, there was a good deal of hurt that she was trying unsuccessfully to hide.

As he leaned in close, she had absolutely no idea what he was going to say, though Tiberius' words shouldn't really have come as a shock. Managing a nod first since Mia still couldn't seem to find her voice, she eventually cleared her throat so she would stop gaping like an idiot. "Of course." Turning to the two girls, she excused herself, promising to find Molly again later, then waited for Tiberius to lead her wherever he intended for them to talk.

Things had been going according to the plan quite smoothly. He ad gotten Mia to talk to him so he could justify and explain things. He headed off to find the farthest available table from the music. He felt the dim lighting would help him tell his side.

Once they had seated themselves, Tiberius was hit with a sort of shock. He had gotten what he planned to happen, yet he was unable to find the words to begin explaining himself. The plan did not extend beyond this point, so Tiberius was at a considerable loss.

He finally managed to speak with, "Well, I'm sorry I canceled our date. But at least I made it, yeah?" He chuckled at this to himself masking his uncertainty. He didn't know where this could go or end up doing.

Mia really had no idea what was going to happen here. She was still pretty tipsy, so maybe she was more agreeable than she should have been, but she followed Tiberius quite willingly as he led her away from the music. Part of her felt even worse when she thought about the fact that he was here despite telling her it was just to get away he needed. Apparently he DID want to attend the ball, just not with her.

As they sat down, Mia looked at him expectantly, not sure what to say. Was she supposed to start? Figuring since he'd asked that Tiberius had something to say, she waited. His first words had her stomach clenching a little, and she frowned just slightly. "Yes...I suppose it is nice to see you wanted to come after all..just not with me. Right?" Mia tried not to sound harsh, and wound up coming across more hurt than she intended to show.

Trying his best to hide the shock he felt at her comments, he looked at her with much sadness. That was completely the opposite emotion he wanted her feeling at his return. Girls often did over complicate things, and because Tiberius was still in focused-mode he had no tangible comprehension of her thought process.

He continued, speeding through his stream of consciousness:

"Wait....you think what? How? That's not at all true. Like, at all. But that's beside the point. I came back because I felt awful for the way ended things and I knew I shouldn't have given up so fast. So I'm back to pick up where I left off and hopefully you will think better of me."

He had been surprised at his own forwardness, never before being so candid with his emotions to anyone, let alone a girl he really really liked. Realizing this, he soon retreated and backtracked with:

"That is, if you haven't given up on me or haven't decided I was mental. Which, I think, if I were in your shoes, I would have by now."

At the look on his face when she spoke, Mia instantly felt guilty for her harsh words. She always tried to give people the benefit of the doubt, and be fair when talking to others, but when her emotions got involved it made being objective a bit difficult. She didn't think Tiberius was that type of guy, but everything she had seen recently with that stupid game and then leaving was making her wonder. Not to mention it was a logical conclusion when a person said they needed to clear the head and get away, yet they came to a dance they said they weren't going to anyway.

His apology sounded genuine, however, and Mia was a naturally forgiving person. It wasn't like he didn't have reasons, and he did address her thoughts about giving up so quickly. She had never seen Tiberius this open before, and he seemed to have some sort of focused calm going on that she found quite impressive.

"I don't think you're mental. I mean, I kind of understand why you did what you did. Kind of." Managing a slight smile so he knew she was forgiving him but still reprimanding him in the process. "I think we can pick up where we left off. Provided you answer one question, and then promise to dance with me when we've finished talking." It was a bit tricky, but Mia did want to know one thing about that silly journal entry.

"Why did you say what you did when Ursula asked you to choose between the three of us?" she said softly, not sounding accusing or angry or any of those things. When Mia forgave, she meant that forgiveness. She was simply curious because it had seemed so unlike him.

That smile made Tiberius lose control of his mind for a second, losing himself in her gaze.

He knew he shouldn't have gotten off the hook this easily. He had prepared for a full out scene in the middle of the dance. For once, things were managing to turn out even better than expected. He knew he wasn't completely forgiven. How could he be? Her admission however had given Tiberius the impression that he was very close to be getting full acceptance.

Tiberius was very peeved and also relieved that he had the opportunity to address this issue. He was eternally annoyed that such a big deal had been made of his comments. Not only was he somehow amassing more bad press from it than the instigator and creator of the game itself, Bertie, but the comments he made, he thought, were of the most obviously sarcastic and joking to counter Ursula's obvious attempt at creating drama. Which is exactly what she crafted.

"I should hope that you know I have no intention of pushing you off a cliff. It was my fullest intent to make it obvious I was only joking and answering with sarcasm, but I suppose being put on the spot like that hid that from you. I knew I couldn't say marry because it would seem to you that I was moving way too fast with our relationship and expected way too much from it. If I had said shag, I know your brother would have taken that as an earlier chance to berate me and stop being my friend. So at the time, what made the most sense was to cliff you and hope you understood that I was joking, so in essence you would think that I hadn't rated you at all. But I know that all of that was lost on you and I apologize."

"Oh I know. It's a game, a right disturbing one that I find myself wondering why Betie even brought it up mind, but still a game. Some of those answers, however silly they might have seemed to others, were very hurtful." Mia wasn't just thinking about his answers, and the soft gentle smile she gave him hopefully reassured him of this fact. She wasn't one of those girls who had to over-analyze and find something bad in everything, but those bloody journals didn't translate things properly most of the time.

As Tiberius went on to explain his reasoning, it made sense to hear it all spelled out. She should have gathered something like that when first reading the words, but she had been so embarrassed by what she saw that it clouded her normally calm judgement. Nodding a bit, she smiled again, not wanting to dwell on what had transpired before. His apology was enough for Amelia, and now she understood better where he had been coming from. His intentions were good even if the execution could use some work.

"Those journals don't always communicate everything we want to say," she said with a shrug. "Sarcasm is hard to put into written words. I understand you were trying to make the best of a losing situation." There wasn't much Tiberius could have said that would have been right in that situation, which was exactly what Ursula had intended. Leaning in close, she pecked a gentle kiss to his cheek in hopes of wiping some of that guilt out of his expression. Mia was still slightly tipsy, and the forward affection hopefully wouldn't prove to overstep. She just wanted to see him smile. "It's done now. You're forgiven and I believe there's no reason to dwell on it. Unless you'd rather brood?" Her expression was playful as she nudged him a bit, definitely eager to get onto that 'moving on and picking up where he left off' portion he'd mentioned earlier.

He saw Mia leaning in close, and unsure of what to expect or what to do, his mind simply froze and did nothing, hopefully the moment would pass and leave little trace behind.
But her kiss spread a certain warmth throughout him. He had, of course, been in the growing cold of the forest for the past day and a half, and it managed to warm his body and his mind.

He was very grateful for her understanding. He had known from his past experience with Emmeline that girls may not always take the rational path and favor the dramatic and emotional.

"Nah, I better leave brooding for the next time I am faced by Ro. I get the feeling she has it in for me!"

He hadn't completely adjusted back to his human mind-set, so he was still blatantly telling the truth on his mind without much filter. To try and convert that obvious fact into a deprecating joke, he added a quick grin to the end of it. His eyes lit up when they caught Mia's.

"How about you and I hit up the dance floor once again and we can both try to forget that anything happened? Start fresh. You in?"

Without really waiting for a verbal reply, he took her hand and led her off into the ocean of moving bodies, not knowing where he was in proximity to others. He lost himself in his focus on Mia, unknowingly traversing the crowd. He seemed to have forgotten about what he had seen earlier and ended up nearer to a very upset Ed than he was comfortable being. He, however, only knew how close he was to Mia as they started to dance to another Sonorous jam.

Luckily for Mia, he didn't seem to mind the kiss to the cheek. She wasn't trying to be a slag or anything, she just wanted to move on. Tiberius had apologized, which took a lot of guts after everything that had happened. He had made some bad decisions, but nobody was perfect and there were circumstances involved that she certainly didn't blame him for. The only thing Mia really cared about was why he had said what he did in the journal, and that answer had definitely been sufficient. Maybe she should've made him suffer a bit, but that wasn't her style. He was a nice guy and she really liked him, so there was no reason to draw out the drama.

"I'm sure she does, but I'll protect you if she comes after you." Smiling impishly as she offered his protection, she let that feeling in her head and his own smile brighten her mood. The dance suddenly got a whole lot better, and Mia had been having fun before. "Am I in? I say you bloody well stop talking and get me back to that dance floor quickly before I change my mind!" she replied, winking as he took her hand and led her back to the Great Hall.

It didn't take long before they were back in the throng of bodies moving on the dance floor, and she smiled happily as she recognized the song that came on. Mia had no qualms about moving close to him as they began to dance, and she was quite content to fixate only on that and the music as her body moved instinctively with his.
