Summary: Everybody parties at the Halloween Ball!

This is your ball post, everyone! Here's how this will go.

Different locations in the Great Hall will be posted as separate comments, which will include a little description of each. These will be the Entrance Hall, the Dance Floor, and the Tables. You should reply to any/all of these comments with your character, and if other characters reply to that subthread, they are interacting with your character. Please indicate in the subject whether your character's subthread is open or whether it has participants in mind already (EG, maybe John is at the ball and taking a break from dancing at the tables, waiting to see if someone comes up to him, so the title for his comment would be "Jack/Open", but maybe Jill is meeting Adam at the ball, so she would reply to the Entrance Hall thread with "Jill/Adam" in the subject).

Please wait to reply the ball until all the comment locations are up. Backdating of threads/journals related to the ball is allowed until Tuesday, and posting placeholders is not allowed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM the mod account!

Once she made it through the entrance and managed to find Felicity, she spent a good deal of time talking with her surrogate sister. The two had a wonderful time surveying the costumes of others, and even managed to find their way inside the Great Hall fully. The band was definitely putting on a good show, and Aurelia couldn't help but bop her head to the music as she talked and laughed with friends who managed to find their way to her amongst the crowd milling and dancing about. The school was definitely forgetting all their problems tonight, and after a few glasses of punch, Aurelia was feeling quite good too. She found herself smiling at people she normally treated with aloof haughtiness, though wasn't exactly giggly and friendly to just anyone even tipsy.

After a good amount of time on her feet, the heels that accompanied her Hera goddess gown were becoming a bit pinchy. Excusing herself from the group she was surrounded by, Aura made her way to the tables after stopping for another glass of punch. Spying Sophia Rowle already seated at one, she smiled and changed direction.

Stopping beside the older girl, Aurelia gave her a smile and held up her glass. "I love the dress. I have a feeling we might have chosen from the same era and culture," she said with a wink. "Mind if I join you? I need to sit for a moment."

"Of course, Aurelia" Sophia said, nodding to the chair nearest to her. She was pleased to see that the younger girl looked content for a change - though Sophia could empathise, as being in a house with some of those idiots in Hufflepuff could do dreadful things to one's state of mind, she thought.

"Yes, I rather think we have" she continued as Aurelia commented on her choice of outfit. "I must admit, I made this choice purely because I felt like wearing a gown instead of something ridiculous like... like..."

She looked around for a moment, before tossing her perfectly groomed head in the direction of a younger student wearing what appeared to be a rubbish bag with several knitted ribbons coming off the back. "Her. What on earth does she think she looks like?" she said, using a suitably scathing tone as she knew the child wasn't in Slytherin.

"I have no idea. Maybe she's going as the garbage? Since that's the only thing it looks remotely like to me." Aurelia's own tone was full of acid, and her expression showed her disgust. The girl was in Hufflepuff, she thought, and that made her extra nasty with her opinions and words. She couldn't believe some of the things their peers saw it fit to wear in public.

Taking a sip of her punch, she surveyed the room before returning her eyes to Sophia. "So what Greek did you come as tonight? Since we seemed to have the same idea of wearing a pretty gown suitable for a public event." Aurelia had just picked a random deity, though Hera was a powerful and feared woman; which she could respect and admire.

Sophia smirked and regarded the girl again. "I think we'd need to use Legilimency to figure out what's going on in that child's head" she replied, looking around the room to find another unwitting victim of her scathing nature.

Sophia smoothed out the folds of her gown, picking up the pig shaped handbag she had transfigured earlier (or should she say, one of the boys she had persuaded to do it for her) and putting it on the table. "Circe" she said simply. "I thought it rather fitting."
