Summary: Everybody parties at the Halloween Ball!

This is your ball post, everyone! Here's how this will go.

Different locations in the Great Hall will be posted as separate comments, which will include a little description of each. These will be the Entrance Hall, the Dance Floor, and the Tables. You should reply to any/all of these comments with your character, and if other characters reply to that subthread, they are interacting with your character. Please indicate in the subject whether your character's subthread is open or whether it has participants in mind already (EG, maybe John is at the ball and taking a break from dancing at the tables, waiting to see if someone comes up to him, so the title for his comment would be "Jack/Open", but maybe Jill is meeting Adam at the ball, so she would reply to the Entrance Hall thread with "Jill/Adam" in the subject).

Please wait to reply the ball until all the comment locations are up. Backdating of threads/journals related to the ball is allowed until Tuesday, and posting placeholders is not allowed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM the mod account!

Xeno was twirling and jumping in such an extravagant way that he was surprised when his momentum was put on hold when the nose of his costume was grabbed. "Oi! What in the bloody hell-" The head of the costume flew back and Xeno was suddenly looking down at a disgruntled young woman dressed in an old fashioned gown holding a rather tattered copy of a book he remembered reading in Muggle Studies.

"Oh. My apologies, Miss Bennett is it?" Xeno gently took Kira's hand in his, bowed, and kissed the top of her hand.

Before Kira had managed to get the mask pulled back, she heard the familiar voice. The removal of his headdress just sold her on the assumption: former Ravenclaw 6th year Xenophilius Lovegood. "Xeno?" she questioned curiously, her eyes trailing over his costume from head to toe once more before catching his eyes again. Kira's mouth twisted into a smirk as she released his costume, but just when she was about to ask him what exactly he was doing, the boy chimed in with a rather impressive observation.

Needless to say, Kira was surprised. Sometimes the boy just seemed so oblivious to things she hardly felt they had anything in common, but times like these taught her otherwise. It turned out the boy caught a lot more than he let on. "But how did you-" The girl stopped herself short as she glanced down at her hands as he reached for one. It was then she remembered she still had her book with her. Had he read Pride and Prejudice before? Whatever was going on here, any former irritation his costume had caused her had diminished. The fact he bowed to her was graciously received with a curtsy of her own, and then to further her amazement, the boy placed a kiss on her hand. As strange as he was, the boy had style. Quirky style perhaps, but a gentleman all the same. "One of two here tonight," she added with a grin, slowly removing her hand from his to straighten her dress. "You're forgiven." Now her former glare was replaced with a warm smile, Kira unpocketing her wand to transfigure her book into a bracelet. She slipped it over her left gloved hand prior to pocketing her wand in an hidden compartment just below her empire waistline.

"And you are... a giant purple lizard with extra limbs?" she teased, giving him a sly smile before crossing her arms over her chest. Just then the song changed to another upbeat one, one she also knew. Kira's face lit up as she was shaken by a nearby friend who shared her excitement. Without further thought, she turned back to Xeno. "Care to dance?" she offered, holding out her hands to the boy. "Just make sure you watch where all those hands are going this time," she added in jest.

Xeno smirked and winked at Kira. "One in the same." He chuckled as she did a curtsy and released her hand. "Muggle Studies, suggested reading in 4th year. Did you not take that course?" He quirked and eyebrow when Kira mentioned she was one of two this evening and wondered who else would pick the same Muggle character, then nodding to her when she forgave him.

"No, my dear. I am a Crumple-Horned Snorkack. Most people have never seen one so I figured this year I would enlighten everyone on what to look out for. They are very tricky creatures." When the song changed Xeno was delighted when Kira asked him to dance. "It would be my honor, m'lady. And I apologize in advance for flailing limbs." Smiling, he took her hands and began jumping to the beat of the song.
