Characters: Felicity Yaxley, Edgar Bones
Setting: Sunday early evening after dinner, Great Hall
Content: SFW
Summary: Edgar and Felicity go over Prefectly business.

As Felicity Yaxley polished off the last remnants of her dessert (a rather small portion of treacle tart), she quickly stole a glance at the Hufflepuff tables. Sure enough, the tables were beginning to thin out, what with all the students scurrying off to their common rooms and activity meetings. Among the group of students left at the table, there was Edgar Bones, sitting among his group of friends. Felicity supposed that she could wait a few minutes before heading over. After all, she was hardly preoccupied with meetings that night, and regardless, Head Girl duties took precedence over all of her other activities.

As all of her friends in Slytherin began filtering out of the Great Hall, she took the time to greet them with a cordial wave of goodbye. "Sorry, darling, I've got a meeting to attend to," she replied to one of her closer dormmates, who had just asked her if she was planning to go study for Astronomy in the common room after dinner. She flashed a baleful smile at her friend, hoping she would understand. Aside from her arsenal of NEWTs, Felicity often had club meetings to attend to, not to mention Head Girl business. It was nice to have something substantial to allocate her time, but a busy schedule often cut into her social life a bit more than she expected.

She glanced once more at the Hufflepuff table. Edgar didn't appear preoccupied, so Felicity took this as her cue to walk on over. While the idea of a Hufflepuff-Slytherin duo for Head Boy-Head Girl admittedly seemed like an odd choice, Felicity actually didn't mind. Despite their occasional clashes in personality and bickering, Felicity and Edgar somehow managed to get all of their work done. And Ed was much easier to work with than she had expected; he was certainly not as insufferable as the majority of the students in his house. They got things done, and frankly, that was of Felicity's utmost concern more than anything else.

She gathered her materials (a stack of Prefect-related documents and a quill packed neatly in her bag) and quietly made her way over. As she neared the Hufflepuff table, Felicity stood in front of Edgar and smiled. "Hello, Edgar," she greeted cordially. "Would you like to work here or move to a quieter area?"

Ed surprisingly let out a light laugh as Felicity joked around with him. "Of course she is, I mean who wouldn't? This is Ed Bones we're talking about." He grinned at her before his face formed a frown. He picked up on the joking manner and instead of retaliating he simply slumped down in his seat and pouted. After Felicity took out her Prefect documents the pout however turned to a grin before he shook his head and sighed. She took the job way too seriously, though, he thought of it as a good thing -- it meant that he didn't have to pick up his act. Edgar had brought his own quill and parchment but decided not to pull it out, besides Felicity would publish the new schedule on the journals so there was no point in him writing it down as well, right?

Ed put another fork full in his mouth, polishing off the plate that sat in front of him. Charis Clearwater had mentioned it to him. Not that she minded being switched with Weasley, she just thought it was unfair for Felicity to switch around people that were her favorites. Edgar looked around the hall refusing to dob Charis in, in fear she would have to fear Felicity's wrath. Edgar shrugged, "Some of the fifth years, you know them, always whinging. Though, Amos has a few scheduled with Umbridge and I'm sure he's desperately wanting a swap." He raised his eyebrow, "Pair me with Trish and I'd be a happy little chap."

As she heard Ed heave a sigh of disbelief, she lifted her head with a look of wry amusement on her face. Over the years, Felicity had garnered a notoriety for being serious about everything. Becoming Prefect and later Head Girl only cemented this habit. "What? Now, don't tell me your surprised that I brought my notes," she asked dryly. She pushed the piece of parchment a few inches toward Edgar, so that he could get a better view of her notetaking.

"Fifth years are always whinging," she remarked. There was a grain of truth to this, though; oftentimes the younger Prefects expected a wealth of extra privileges and the ability to pick their own patrol partners just because of their newly acquired badges. Ever since the school year had started, Felicity found it a bit disrespectful, since it was typically the Head Boy and Girl's duty to personally arrange all the patrol schedules. However, she didn't want to sound as if she was trying to turn them into a scapegoat. "Alright, then," she said agreeably. "I'll put down Amos and Dolores under the list of people to switch. Is there anybody else that has requested a change?"

"Duly noted," she remarked as she smirked at him. At the top of the list, she wrote in a neat penmanship: Edgar Bones and Patricia Fells. She scoured the list for available people to pair up. "What say you to Nola Jones and Galvin Gudgeon? I don't recall those two having qualms with the other Prefects."

Ed shook his head as she questioned him. He wasn't surprised, he'd figured her out by now. She was just another Slytherin that was brought up in a pretty mansion and was given everything she asked for. Edgar also assumed that she was stuck up and was extremely two faced but he would never express those thoughts only because he didn't want to make their pairing even more awkward. "Not surprised in the slightest, love. I just think you should relax a bit." He noted as he watched her movements. They were rigid and controlled. Ed got the idea that she never let her hair down, that she never had fun.

Ed sighed as he slouched his shoulders a little, looking around the hall. "Uh huh. Though you were a fifth year once, I bet you whinged like there was no tomorrow." He smirked waiting for Felicity to snap back at him, assuring him that she was too proper to complain. He watched her writing down the notes and nodded along, agreeing with separating Amos and Dolores. Ed frowned trying to recall anyone else who had complained. "Raavi Patil is sick of Rita Skeeter's gossiping." He nodded before recalling another complaint. "Oh! And Lenore doesn't particularly like patrolling with Evan Rosier. Though, she'll stay tolerable if we can't put her with anyone else."

Edgar watched as Felicity smirked and raised his eyebrows. "Don't take that too happily, Fee." Shit "Felicity. That means you get less patrolling time with me." Edgar smirked again wondering whether Felicity would bite his head off. "That sounds good to me, Nola hasn't complained yet."

"Relax?" she asked amusedly. The corner of her mouth lit up in a small smirk. "I don't recall that being a part of my vocabulary." She tucked her hair neatly behind her ears.

"Me? Whinging like there was no tomorrow?" she repeated in mock surprise. "I would never think of more nettlesome habit." She quirked her eyebrow in Ed's direction, waiting to gauge his response. A proper lady was supposed to hold her tongue and never make a fuss. Felicity subscribed to this age-old notion, though she was never one to pass up an opportunity to vent her frustrations behind closed doors. Expecting a horrified look from Edgar's direction, she grinned widely and added, "Don't be silly, of course I did. I just always made sure I whinged behind wards." She shrugged at that last thought.

"That's fair," she remarked, as she switched out Raavi Patil's name. She was okay with Rita being Prefect, but her gossipy habits were certainly a detriment. "Hmm, I'll put Lenore on hold, and let's see if we can't get Evan paired up with another Prefect." She scanned the list of names. Emmeline? Odette? "What do you think of Emmeline or Odette being paired off with Evan? Otherwise, we could pair him up with Dolores, Lily, Rita, or Septima."

"I'm going to pretend that I didn't just hear that," she quipped. "No opportunity for more Head Girl and Head Boy bonding time? I'm absolutely hurt. Wounded, even," she remarked wryly. She winked at Edgar cheekily. "I suppose that leaves a pool of poor, unsuspecting patrol partners for me to possibly select. Want to do me a favour and help me pick one?" If she had her way, she would pick Sophia, no question, but if she could remember correctly, shifts were always patrolled by one male and one female Prefect, and plus, she was certain the other Prefects would throw a fit if they knew she had deliberately handpicked her best friend.
