Abbie and Open!
Waiting until the very last possible moment, Abbott stalked out of the Hufflepuff House and headed up to the Great Hall. She wore a dress of yellow, so she wore house colors. As soon as she stepped into the Great Hall, she scanned the room until she found her father, who stood against one of the walls.
Abbie headed straight towards him and gave him a quick hug. As much as she hated going to the Ball, she liked being able to see Dad all dressed up. Neville hugged his daughter back and kissed her on the top of the head. "Your mum is going to be sad you're not wearing the shoes she sent you," he said, looking at a pair of black boots his daughter wore.
"They were heels! I can barely walk in my trainers without tripping," she replied, rolling her eyes.
"Where's Justin?" Neville asked, changing the subject.
"Not coming," she mumbled, her lips turning downward into a frown. Noticing that his only daughter looked so sad not to have her best friend around, he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and hugged her again.
"Guess that means I get you all to myself," he said, speaking too soon. A pair of third years were throwing snacks at each other. "Ahh..."
"Go," Abbie said, giving him a shove.
"Save your old man a dance?" he asked, smiling at her. She rolled her eyes at him and nodded. "Try to have fun."
Watching her father take care of the food fighters, Abbie turned on her heel and almost ran right into someone. "Sorry."
