Who: Harry and Sirius
What: Do godfathery/godsonly like things?
When: Sunday, of course!
Where: Sirius' place.
Rating: TBA

Harry had felt funny ever since he'd re-aged. He figured this was only natural especially after receiving a fresh dose of your awful childhood and coming to realize that the parents you hardly knew and had only recently been able to even begin to be acquainted with were, in fact, gone. Naturally, this led him to think of it and he realized he was very much afraid that Sirius would be next which led him to feeling guilty because he should have felt more awful about his parents popping off, yes? But, truth be told, as odd as it was, he felt closer to Sirius even if his parents and Sirius were all in the same boat here when it came to knowing him. Naturally though, Sirius had the advantage because a) he'd come from a time after Harry was born and b) Harry had actually known him back in his own time. Still, he wasn't sure whether that was enough reasoning or not.

In any case, he felt relieved when Sunday finally came around and after scolding Norbert for all but eating his sneaker, he informed the dog they were going 'out' and led the way to his godfather's house, Norbert barking and yipping at his heels. Trying desperately to get the dog to sit when they reached the house Harry found it to no avail as Norbert took to running up and down the steps as Harry knocked. Well, Sirius had asked for it, hadn't he?

It was easy to feel better with Sirius around really. How could you not? Letting go of him after he'd received a few pats on the back, Harry made his way into the house, laughing as Sirius scooped up Norbert, and made his way down the hall.

And to say Sirius had quite a spread was really an understatement. The last time Harry had seen this much food had been the picnic and Harry really didn't want to think about the picnic. Still, Harry let out a groan as he was reminded that everyone now knew what he did for a living here. Hermione had even asked where he worked and offered to bring Ron by to see him. The shame, the horror. Harry had never been so embarrassed in his life. Alright, he'd been through worse before but still - dancing. He almost wanted to shudder. "Don't worry about it." because well, Sirius was Sirius and could do no wrong in Harry eyes despite the many threats his older self would receive from Molly Weasley in regards to what she deemed as wrong. "Any ice cream is fine by me." He said, picking up a pastry from the table and biting it experimentally. "So, how've you been?" Harry asked after a moment, turning back to his Godfather.

Sirius continued to pet Norbert as he padded after Harry into the other room, barefoot. How had he been? He considered the question, considered how to answer it. As a kid and even a teenager, he never had liked being talked to like he was a child. Like he was too small and too innocent to understand life was full of rubbish. Adults tried to make it seem all rosy hued. He wasn't going to talk to Harry like that.

"Eh. It blows without James and Lily," he admitted freely. "I'm just thankful to still have you and Remus here. Iunno what I'd do with myself if you two larked off."

Harry laughed a little, obviously a bit unsettled with his parents popping off as he nodded his head in agreement. "They'll be back." Harry said after a moment because they had to come back. Ginny had come back, hadn't she? So it only made sense that Lily and James would be back as well especially considering what their future held and all. Lockewood was much better then certain death even if Skeeter was awful.

"I don't think Skeeter's going to let any of us pop off. She has too much fun with us." Harry pointed out, leaning against the table all the while, watching as Sirius pet Norbert who was quite happy with all the attention. "I'll do my best to stay here though if you promise to do yours. I really don't want you popping off either." which was the truth because Harry had been rather nervous about that the past few days. What if Sirius did leave? He didn't want to think about it but it was one of those things you couldn't help but think about even though you really didn't want to.

"Y'never know. Skeeter's unpredictable, boyo," Sirius reminded him. His nose scrunched and then a few barking laughs came when Norbert started attacking his arm with slobbery dog kisses. He already liked the little bugger of fluff. But that could just be because he was Harry's, and Sirius liked anything that belonged to his godson's by extension, be they friends, sons, or dogs. So far, anyroad.

"Maybe she derives a sick pleasure from pulling us in and plucking us out. Just so the others still here will have to sit and wonder who they could lose next." Which is exactly what Sirius had been trying not to do. Thus far, he was failing spectacularly. "I mean, no one knows whether there's an option. No one who returns remembers ever being here. S'bit like death in a way."

Oh yes, Skeeter really was. That woman, she rolled with her own punches she did. She did what she wanted when she wanted and printed pretty much the same thing. After all, she seemed to be able to get away with it and if she could also get away with keeping a bunch of people locked up in a town well - she could probably get away with pretty much anything.

Still, Harry felt all the blood drain from his face as he nodded grimly. Right. It made sense. After all, there were people from before his time and yet nobody had ever heard of Lockewood until they got here and after they left? Well, again, nothing. So, in turn, his parents wouldn't even remember that they had had a chance to have a life here and Sirius wouldn't remember his brief vacation from Azkaban or that he'd gotten to be with Remus or see James again. "Suppose so." he finally managed. Skeeter would probably receive great pleasure by plucking Sirius from Lockewood and making him suffer. Harry thought he might kill her if she ever did though and immediately felt guilty but that didn't change the fact.

Pulling out a chair, Harry sat down and tried not to think about this whole disappearing business in favor of watching Norbert bark and yip and lick Sirius. The pup really did seem to like his Godfather, not that Harry could blame him. Wagging his tail, Norbert squirmed a bit in the man's arms in favor of barking at Harry as if to say 'Look at me! Look at me!' and Harry could only let out a brief chuckle. "Likes you." he pointed out with a nod of his head.

"Probably smells Padfoot," Sirius mused. He set down Norbert, letting the pup roam the room and sniff around his new environment to his pleasing. He might have left out a dog-bone for Norbert to find.

Not wanting doggy slobber in his food, thankyouverymuch, Sirius rolled up his sleeves and washed his hands before pulling out a chair to join Harry. "We'd best get a start on the ice cream before it melts. Dunno 'bout you, but I don't like soupy ice cream," he said, passing over a spoon. He pried open the rocky road and started making headway on it.

"So, how's the dancing? Still horrible?" He asked, trying to turn the conversation to a lighter topic. "I met your coworker the other day. Hansel? Hane.. Hans.. No, Hannah! Blonde lass. Nice girl. Needed some pots."

Watching Norbert carefully to make sure he didn't break off in a run to destroy something (Slytherin would kill him if he knew his pet was so misbehaved), Harry turned his head slightly when he heard the water running before watching Norbert trot off once more. Well, hopefully he would just take a nap.

Nodding a bit as Sirius pulled a chair out, he accepted the spoon and eyed the various ice creams, settling on plain old chocolate and opening the carton to take a spoonful. Ice cream was very good, Sirius was a genius for thinking of it.

Still, Harry groaned once more in response to Sirius bringing up his job. "It's as awful as ever, especially now that people know to find me there." he said, giving Sirius a pointed look before adding in a crooked grin to let him know he was kidding. It really was awful though. "How'd you manage to change jobs? Charming good looks? What was it?" Harry asked before smiling at the mention of Hannah. "Hannah, yeah, Hannah Abbott, went to school with her. She was in my year but I do believe she's older than me here." Come to think of it, he hadn't spoken to Hannah in a bit. He'd have to get on that. "How goes the pottery gig by the way?"

"Charmed her with my devilish good looks, of course. She didn't need much persuading to agree she gave me a worthless job. She probably knew it all along."

Sirius might've told Harry how he REALLY managed to get his new job, but with the question wedged after another reminder that he had made Harry's miserable job even more miserable.. He didn't want to take the leap and risk Harry really hating him for what he'd done. His animagus took the form of a dog for a reason. When he really liked someone, all he wanted was their love and attention and nothing outside those poles.

"Oh! It's fantastic, actually. Started off not knowing what the bugger I was doing, but I think I'm getting the hang of it," he said, grinning around another bite of ice cream. "You'll have to come by my workshop some time and try it. You are a Potter." First big bad pun, check.

Harry couldn't help but laugh. Yes, that would be something Sirius would say. Sirius' general persona was enough to put a person in a good mood. He was easy to talk to, clever, and quite funny but that was generally all a given he figured. Still, Harry had never had the same ease when it came to conversation that Sirius and apparently his father had. In fact, he was actually rather awful. Oh well. "Ah, led her to see the error in her ways then, yeah?" Harry asked with a crooked smile, mushing his ice cream with his spoon a bit as he looked over at his Godfather.

Of course, Harry could never hate the man, no matter what he did. Sirius was above error really and so bad pun or no, Harry still laughed, shaking his head a bit. "Oi, so I suppose I should be a natural then, yeah?" Harry asked, smile wide before taking another spoonful of ice cream. "I think I'd actually be rather bad, I was the worst in my art class in primary school." Harry informed him. That could have been because Piers and Dudley had often destroyed his projects so he had to hastily remake them. Still, Harry didn't figure himself to be the artistic type. "I will though, stop by. I've been meaning too, Remus as well. How is Remus by the way?" Harry hadn't seen the other man in ages and he did worry.

Sirius barked a laugh. "You're letting your art as a wee seven year-old decide for you? Primary school is bollocks. I'll decide whether you're bad or not," he told Harry, waving his hand dismissively. Or, as it were, his spoon. It didn't matter that he had never been to a primary school.

At the mention of Remus, the cheer in his face faded a touch. He shrugged around another spoonful of ice cream. "Good, I suppose. Haven't seen him in a few days," he admitted. After their miniature tiff (if it could be called that) through the journals, Sirius had decided to keep his distance. "I got a little annoyed with being accused of pouting and.. yeah."

It was more than a little wonky, telling your Godson about your (unofficial, unspoken) relationship troubles.

"I made a cup that looked like it came out of a Dr Seuss book once." Harry remembered idly, of course after he made the reference he wondered if Sirius would get it. It was hard sometimes to differentiate between what was considered Muggle and what was considered to be part of the Wizarding world. All too soon, he forgot and authors and pop culture leaked into the two. "But perhaps I've picked up a keen hand for pottery somewhere along the line, and since you're the potter, I suppose I will let you tell me." Harry said with a wry smile.

Still, Harry watched Sirius' smile fade and immediately thought the worst which was unfortunate. Sometimes it was hard to be optimistic though but Harry was relieved to hear it was just a tiff and, in fact, even cracked a smile as he heard why they hadn't seen each other in a few days. He tried his best not to smile, of course, but he couldn't really help it. "Oh?" Harry asked, Sirius was stubborn. He knew that. He wasn't too sure about Remus. Remus had been stubborn as well, but only when it came to certain things. "Well, I mean, it would be understandably so, what with Mum and Dad popping off. I thought Dad was still in jail, I was getting ready to stage a coop and break him out." Harry said, giving Sirius a sad but crooked sort of smile when he thought of his father. James was funny, and odd but in the most likable sort of way. He was brilliant, really. Harry himself was semi-pouting over his disappearance and he wasn't even that close to him. Sirius was his best mate so it made sense. "He'll be back though." Harry said, rather confidently at that. "Has to be, else you'll go mad as a hatter or I will and I'll take you with me and poor Remus won't know what to do once we've lost our marbles and if Mum does arrive I don't think she'd take kindly to any of that. Clearly it would be just too devastating to not bring him back."

"Doctor Shoosh? Who?" Sirius canted his head sideways, clearing not catching the reference.

Waving away the question, he listened to his godson ramble on and smiled. Just watching Harry speak was -- well, wonky and incredible all at once. No matter how many times he saw the boy, he was still tempted to reach out and poke his face. Just to see if he was really so old, the spitting mirror-image of James. Just to be sure he wasn't a figment of his imagination.

If he was, if all of Lockewood was just that.. Sirius didn't mind hallucinating.

"Can't argue with logic like that, no sirree. Maybe when they come back we can find a hex that keeps them here. Like an anchor. We'll all tie ourselves here -- although that might not be what they want. Do you ever want to leave and go back to your time?" he asked Harry.

Right. Harry let out a bit of a laugh. "Oh, he's an odd Muggle author, writes kids books that rhyme." Harry offered then. Dudley had rather hated Doctor Seuss, maybe that was why Harry had always liked him.

Of course, if it was weird for Sirius that Harry was all grown up here, it was equally weird for Harry that Sirius was not only alive here, but so young. Harry's memories of him were after he'd spent 12 years in Azkaban. Sure, he did look just about the same but he had a rather haunted look about him sometimes back home. Here, Harry rarely even saw a glimmer of it which was fine by him. He'd rather Sirius had never went to Azkaban at all naturally.

Thinking on that a bit, Harry nodded his head in agreement before tensing up at the questioned and shaking his head. "No" Harry said a bit too quickly before slackening his shoulders a bit and shaking his head once more. "Err -- I mean, I like what I hear about -- you know -- my future and all but I'd really rather not -- go back." because well, Sirius wasn't there, was he? And he had no hopes of seeing his parents again there either, did he now? No, he'd much prefer Lockewood - where Sirius was safe and sound and happy and Harry could pop on by whenever he pleased because, side note, there was no war here! Brilliant. "Would you?" he asked curiously then.

"No," he answered immediately. Sirius didn't even have to pause and think about it. He shook his head.

"Never. Not with you and Remus here. Not with the possibility that Lily and James could come back." No Azkaban was also a big whooping plus, but that didn't need to be mentioned. "I can see you whenever I want. Remus and I can work things out. There's no Voldemort making people disappear and making it impossible to trust anyone fully. I mean, I could do without Skeeter and Pettigrew here, but.." Sirius shrugged.

"The benefits outweigh all that, I guess."

Harry nodded, realizing it had been a dumb question all along given where Sirius had come from. Still, he felt quite happy to know that Sirius enjoyed seeing him. Harry was constantly under the impression that he was a burden for some reason, probably because the Durleys had drilled it into him a long time ago that he was just an extra mouth to feed and body to take up space. They laid off when he became a wizard though - then they were a bit scared of him he suspected.

"Skeeter's not too bad in comparison." he agreed, placing his half melted ice cream onto the table then, spoon and all.

"Nope. She's just a thorn the size of a Hippogriff wedged in everyone's backside." Sirius grinned, rather liking his metaphor.

"Done already?" He leaned over to peer into Harry's carton of ice cream. "Ttch. Barely made a dent, boyo. Er- do you mind casting a cooling charm over the ice creams? Don't want them melting."

There still was the problem with his lack of wand. It felt like being handicapped.

Harry smiled then, laughing a bit at the metaphor and Sirius' grin. Sirius really was one of the best people Harry had ever had the pleasure of meeting and when he thought about how the man's life had played out it made him sick. Things weren't fair, he knew that better than anyone, but he was still a lot luckier when it came down to it. After all, hadn't he lived? Grown up? Sure, his adolescence was a bit abnormal but he still got on with it. Sirius really hadn't been able to.

Looking over at him then as he inspected the carton Harry nodded. Harry had never really been a big eater, much to Mrs. Weasley's dismay. He was a skinny boy really, but he couldn't much help it.

"Sure" Harry said, pulling his wand out a second later to do just that. He thought it was odd that Sirius hadn't just done it himself and in true Harry Potter fashion, it all clicked in just then. Furrowing a brow, he looked over at Sirius, "Wait - you don't have a wand?" Harry asked. Obviously, they didn't exactly hand them out in Azkaban and there wasn't a shop that sold them here, was there? But Remus worked with wood and -- well -- where would they find a core? How did one even make a wand? Still, it was rather unsettling. Harry had grown so used to having his he couldn't imagine going anywhere without it and he didn't like the thought of Sirius not having one even if he had grown used to it because of where he'd come from. After all, there were Death Eaters here and a wand was certainly handy in situations like that.

Harry caught on quick. Even more proof he was the son of James and Lily. Sirius smiled ruefully and shook his head.

"Nope, 'fraid not. Those wankers took my wand from me and probably blew it to smithereens. I've been living like a Squib, though you're practically the first to notice. There aren't any wand makers in Lockewood as far as I know."

"Yes but that's -- that's sort of -- well it's rather dangerous isn't it?" Sirius was well known, there were Death Eaters and more could arrive at any given moment. Harry didn't like it and his expression said as much.

"Well, Remus works with wood and I'm sure if--" would research do it? Ron had a rough year their second year when they'd tried to repair his wand so making one would be difficult. Harry frowned, seriously how did one make a wand? "--there has to be a way to--" he said, thinking out loud as his mind turned it over. Maybe Hermione would know, Hermione was brilliant with everything. "I mean, maybe with research--" he threw in, putting his own wand on the table then "--could possibly be a bad idea, can't be easy." Harry muttered, "Ollivander could show up." he said, looking over at Sirius finally. "We could always try to -- er -- make one but -- well -- might be dangerous. Ron broke his wand in third year when we crashed into the Whomping Willow and we couldn't fix it. Suppose making one would be harder than fixing one."

Sirius absently chewed his lip. "I'd feel much much better with a wand, trust me, boyo. But wand-making can be very dangerous. Wand makers study their craft for years and I don't want anyone to get hurt on my account." Especially not Remus or Harry. "I can live with out it for now. Maybe ol' Ollivander will turn up," he said, trying to sound optimistic.

"Yes but you could very well get hurt without one." Harry pointed out. Did anyone have an extra wand? Maybe someone had an extra wand. "Skeeter should have given you a wand." Harry grumbled then, sounding a bit like a child as he said it but it was true and he didn't really like Skeeter at all.

Harry couldn't help it then, he laughed not just chuckled or smiled but really, genuinely laughed. Not that he didn't doubt Sirius' ability to fist fight, it was just rather funny, wasn't it? And his smile went all the way up to his eyes as he looked over at the man and shook his head. "Yeah" Harry said with a wheeze of laughter, pushing his glasses up his nose "You still got those."
