Who: Victoire and Dominique
Where: 22 Quills
When: Tuesday afternoon
What: Dominique rushes to see her sister.
Status/Rating: Incomplete/low?

Terrified. How else was she supposed to describe that feeling in the pit of her stomach? Lockewood may have been the weirdest place on earth, Skeeter may have been an absolute nutcase, some of the people here may have been less than friendly and some downright creepy, but up until now Dominique hadn't actually felt unsafe. But someone had attacked her sister (Regulus Black, in all likelihood, but then he'd denied it and had seemed confused about the whole situation, so to be honest, Dominique didn't know what to think and didn't particularly want to consider the whole thing too deeply anyway) and that was all kinds of horrible. As she made haste to 22 Quills, Dominique tried to focus on the good in the situation. There wasn't much. Apparently Victoire was all right though and that would have to do as her happy thought for now.

It was the constant refrain in her head, over and over. She's fine. She's fine. She's fine. Her father would never have said as much if she wasn't. And she'd see her soon anyway. Just past a few more houses, in the door, Vic's room. Resist the temptation to fling herself at her older sister. Dominique didn't even have a clue how badly she'd been injured. Should she even attempt to give her a hug? She ran through the journal conversations in her head as she finally reached 22 Quills. Victoire has been hurt, Regulus Black attacked her, but she's all right. What did all that amount to anyway? And then she was inside the house, and there was Victoire. It was one thing to read that Victoire was okay, but it was something else entirely to be able to see her and know that she was safe for now.

"Vic. Thank Merlin," was all Dominique could manage.

Victoire took what comfort she could from her sister's embrace. Her heart might have been beating a little hard against Dominique's shoulder, but Victoire didn't feel the need to keep her vulnerability from her sister. There was no point; she was already broken and everyone already knew it.

"Yes. At the hospital yesterday. And last night. He slept on the sofa last night." Victoire didn't tell her sister that she had ripped the blankets off of her bed at the hospital and lain on the floor with their father, crying and whispering her secrets to him; what had happened, what she had felt, how she had felt and how she had hoped she would die. That was between herself and Bill. Their secrets. No, Victoire wasn't under any delusions that Bill hadn't told the Aurors in the village, but the manner of the divulging would have remained between the two of them, at least.

Victoire pulled her sleeves over her hands and brought one to her lips. "Would you like some water?" she asked, bringing her gaze up to the door in case someone else decided to burst in without warning like the last time she had thought about water.
