Who: Tom Riddle and Bellatrix Black
When: Sunday evening.
Where: Bellatrix's home.
What: A step in the wrong direction.
Status/Rating: Incomplete, TBD

Tom was disappointed in the lack of Bellatrix Lestrange in his life. She had been here many times before and all of those times he had to seek her out. This time, he had waited for her. For her to show her devotion to him. The so-called devotion she had for him in the future. But she had never come and Tom was left disappointed.

Sure, he was much younger here. But that didn't mean he was any less powerful. Bellatrix should have felt privilaged to have him in her presence. And he was going to make her see just what she was missing out on.

He arrived at her doorstep and knocked on the door, waiting for her to answer.

Bella had not been expecting any visitors that afternoon, and was surprised to hear someone knocking. She slid Gaius from her lap and moved to the door, peeking through the peep hole. What she saw sucked the breath out of her. "Just a moment!" She reached for her wand and quickly cast a charm to make herself more presentable- nothing that would take long enough to keep him waiting long; you didn't keep Tom Riddle waiting- and then pulled open the door.

"I... was not expecting you," she breathed, eyes slightly wide as she took in his youthful appearance. He was a fetching young man, that much was for certain. What he was doing here, she hadn't the foggiest idea of. She had convinced herself long ago that he would have no interest in such a young, inexperienced version of herself, yet here he stood. "Come in, won't you?" she added politely, stepping aside for him.

Tom didn't like to wait. It did irritate him a small bit when she told him to wait, but the door was open soon enough and he was able to step inside. He took over the girl's appearance, noting small thoughts about her and her youth. Not that it mattered. He himself was young and he was powerful.

Turning on his heel to face her, Tom gave her a small smile. Though he wasn't feeling very cheerful. "Bellatrix. I am sorely disappointed in you." He told her. "Why have you not come to visit me? Have you found loyalties elsewhere?"

Bellatrix was startled by his question. "I was not aware you wanted to see me," she replied, and it was an honest answer. Bellatrix had been convinced since her appearance here that Tom Riddle would have no interest in the version standing before him.

"My loyalties have never wavered." The notion was insulting, but there were certain people you were allowed to show your anger to, and certain people you absolutely could not, such as the future dark lord of the wizarding world.

"I am having a bit of trouble." Tom told her. "In gaining my followers due to my young age. But I can assure you that I am just as powerful now as I was in the future." He didn't know why he was telling her this. Perhaps in hopes that she would understand.

Tom moved towards her and looked her over, bringing his hand up to caress his cheek. "I have heard great things of you, Bellatrix. Are you ready to fulfill your future self?"

"We are loyal," she assured him. "Rodolphus, Bartemius, and I, we need no recruiting." Bellatrix was suddenly glad she had not confessed she felt her younger self would have been of no use to him, for certainly it would have implied his younger self was equally as useless.

Her lashes fluttered at the gentle contact, unexpected but she not unappreciated. How many could say that they had felt the Dark Lord's caress? "Anything you ask of me, my Lord," she assured him, head dipping slightly.

Tom looked over Bellatrix for a moment and gave her a small nod. "Good. So long as you are faithful to me. We can do things, Bellatrix. We can go great places, even if we are only here in Lockewood."

He looked around. "Are you going to offer a man a drink or not?"

It was a rare thing for Bellatrix's hospitality to waver, but the shock of seeing the most powerful dark wizard of all time at her doorstep had been enough to make her forget herself. "Yes, of course. Do you have a preference?" She smiled at him as she took a step back toward the kitchen, before hesitating.

"My Lord... I must ask, how do you wish me to address you?"

"My preference depends on what you might have, Miss Black." Tom smiled at her. He was still a far cry from what he might be in the future mentally. He didn't feel the need to completely over power her or to be disrespectful. Not until she gave him a good reason.

Tom looked her over for a moment, then smiled. "What is it that you wish to address me as, Bellatrix? This is, after all, Lockewood. I suppose if you were to go around calling me your Lord, people may become suspicious."

"It would seem Godric and I have accumulated most everything this town has to offer." Alcohol made the company of this village much easier to deal with. Bellatrix preferred to pretend they didn't exist, until she needed them for something or other. "Firewhiskey seems popular at the moment." He had smiled at her. Bella would have to tell Rodolphus of this meeting.

"Tom seems most fitting, I suppose." Though she could hardly imagine addressing him as such. It seemed unnatural, far too simplistic for a man such as he.

"Yes. For public settings." Tom told her with a slight shrug. He moved towards her and looked around. "While we're alone I'd still prefer to be called Lord."

Tom hummed. This meeting didn't seem to be going as he'd expected. The last Bellatrix he had met had been so... frantic. Mad. This one seemed so calm and proper. It didn't settle well with him. "Are you practiced well in the Unforgivables, Bellatrix?"

"Yes, of course," she agreed, ducking her head slightly. Had Voldemort only learned of his future through readings as she had of her own? Did he know his true power yet? The way he carried himself certainly gave the impression.

"Yes, my Lord. My father taught me from a young age." This was something her mother had absolutely not been pleased about, but as Bellatrix's fondness for the dark arts had blossomed, it was difficult not to satiate her curiosity.

"Very good." Tom told her as he looked around her house. For all he knew, Skeeter had every house in the village bugged so she could listen in on their every conversation. He'd poked around the surveillance items in the store in town. How else would she know everything?

"They should come in handy, should I ever ask of you anything, yes?" Tom ran his eyes over her. "You see, Bellatrix. People tend to think that people our age are not as strong as they may be in their future. I'm sure you've thought the same, yes? Seeing me as this I couldn't possibly possess any great magic. But don't be fooled. I've already done great things. And I wish to do great things with you."
