A cheeky little Bordeaux tucked underneath one arm, Severus set off through the snow from his own door toward Miss Greengrass and Miss Granger's house, just across the way. Quite the social butterfly he'd become here in Lockewood. Narcissa would be proud.
Apart from the those issued by the Malfoys, he'd had fewer dinner invitations in his two decades after Hogwarts than he had since coming here. The fact that he'd died likely had a great deal to do with that, of course. At least Milicent and Draco, he imagined, wanted to pay their last respects, in a less morbid way. Or perhaps not. Perhaps they had simply missed him. Though why, he couldn't imagine.
And now Miss Greengrass. But he would have to remember to call her Daphne. Old habits, forged over a decade and a half of teaching, died hard. "Daphne," he muttered to himself, with a nod, as he reached up to knock. Considering how uncomfortable he'd made her the last time they spoke, however, he sincerely hoped that Miss Granger didn't answer the door.
