Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Roxy and Mikaela
What: Reunion Time!
When: Tuesday Morning-ish?
Where: Niccy's place
Rating: PG, PG-13 probably
Open: to [info]mikaelachase only!

Roxy lay down on the couch, relishing the morning alone. She had a sinking feeling that she was driving Niccy away, and she wouldn't blame him if that were true. She wouldn't want to hang around her all the time either. Currently she was half-watching some soap opera on TV, and was getting bored with it already. She figured she should probably go out, do something productive - but other than the occasional trip the Blockbuster or the grocery store, Roxy pretty much stayed in, tucked under a blanket and not going anywhere. She was afraid to go out alone, afraid that someone might be lurking around the next corner. And Roxy absolutely never went out after dark. That brought back far too many scary memories.

Sipping at some orange juice, she rocked her legs back and forth mindlessly, she contemplated cleaning up, or doing something around the house. Though, she was sure Niccy's apartment had never been more spotless. Cleaning helped occupy her thoughts, so she did quite a bit of it. She sighed a little and rolled her eyes at some of the lines being said on the TV and began to flip through the channels.

Hearing a knock at the door, her brow furrowed a bit as she glanced toward it. She tugged a hand through her hair and got up, for a half of a second thinking about grabbing one of Niccy's guns. Snorting a chastising laugh at herself, she shook her head and walked toward the door, hugging her sweatshirt a little tighter around her as she walked over to answer the door.

The apartment number on the paper matched the number on the door, so Mikaela was positive she had the right address. She wasn't too familiar with the Boston area just yet, but she had been there long enough know how to get from point A to point B, without getting helplessly lost. She had an address to some guy named Niccy's apartment, and specific instructions from Roxy's mother to make sure she was okay. And if she was, Mikaela was to bring her home 'as soon as possible'. Now, she had every intention of checking on Roxy to make sure she was functioning in all the right areas, but bringing her home might turn out to be a bit of a problem. See Mikaela had no plans of retuning to Louisiana. And knowing Roxy, she wouldn't either. That part of the plan would just have to be slightly altered. There wasn't even a guarantee that Roxy would even be at this guy's place, or that whomever answered the door would even be willing to divulge the information as to where Roxy was. But all of this and more had already been played out in Mikaela's mind. And if breaking and entering had to be added to her record in order to find her friend, so be it. There was a light shuffling of footsteps towards the door, and a pause before the door finally cracked open. "I'm looking for Roxy. I'm a friend of hers," she announced loudly in her strong southern accent, before the door creaked open a little further - hoping the person on the other end would be willing to cooperate with a total stranger.

Roxy hesitated at the door, though she mentally scolded herself for being so scared. Likely, if someone were to come here to hurt her, they wouldn't bother knocking. Leaving the chain on, she reached for the doorknob when she heard a voice calling out on the other side. Her eyes flared open like someone had doused cold water on her. She'd know that voice anywhere.

Her fingers flew up to the chain and pulled it off before she opened the door further. "Mikaela?" She said, eyes still wide with shock and relief as she stared at her best friend. It had been so long, and Roxy had felt like such a bad friend, only able to contact her through random phone calls and e-mails, but then all contact had stopped a few months ago. For the first time in what seemed like months, a slow smile broke across her face. It felt odd, like her muscles were protesting the movement.

Before saying another word, Roxy bridged the gap between them and threw her arms around her, clinging to her even more so than one might after reuniting with a good friend. "What are you doing here?" She finally said, her arms still securely hugging her, as she seemed unwilling to let go just yet.

Mikaela certainly didn't expect to see that face on the other side of the door. Her expression matched Roxy's; her eyes widening a bit as her face lit up at the sight of her friend. She hadn't even gotten the chance to get out any more words than the initial few, before Roxy's arms put her in a semi choke hold. "God woman, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to squeeze the life out of me," she teased lightly, as she returned the warm hug, wrapping her arms tightly around Roxy. The fact that it took Roxy a bit to pull away sent an immediate signal to Mikaela, that Roxy was more than just happy to see her. Once she felt the grip around her loosen up, she pulled back just enough to catch a better glimpse at her friends expression. Though it had been ages since she had physically seen her, something in Roxy's smile had changed. Whether or not that was a good thing or a bad thing, was yet to be known. "Surprise, surprise?" Mikaela smiled, holding her arms up just slightly, as she if had just jumped out of an oversized gift wrapped box. "Your mother sent me on a mission. To find out where the hell you've been for the last couple of months, and drag you back to Baton Rouge. Caveman style, if I have to. Of course I agreed to the finding part, but I didn't exactly agree to drag you back home. It seems to me, this city as done right by you enough to stick around, anyway..." Glancing past her, Mikaela took a peek inside of the apartment. Though it was dimly lit inside, she could already tell it had a pretty decent set up. Much better than anything she had seen since arriving in the city of Boston.

Roxy managed a soft laugh at Mikaela's comment but it wasn't full and hearty like it should be. Giving her another tight squeeze, she finally released her, feeling like she wouldn't let go if she didn't force herself. Smiling again, she cupped Mikaela's face in her hands and squinted at her a little, shaking her head before she dropped her hands. "Surprise is right." She said, stepping back to motion for her to come into the place she now, more or less, called home.

Her brow knit together when Mikaela mentioned her mother, and she shook her head, her lips pursing together. "Yeah well, momma can dream all she wants, I'm not going back." She had vowed when she left that she would no longer be her mother's care-taker. She probably should have made the effort to visit more than once a summer, and only for a few days at that. Maybe then her mother wouldn't be so paranoid, but then, lately, Roxy had given a pretty damn good reason for her to be scared for her daughter's safety.

"Can I get you anything?" She drawled, rubbing at the back of her neck a little as she glanced around. She wasn't used to having visitors in Niccy's place, or playing the hostess. Other than her brother and the very rare visit from one of their mutual friends, it was just the two of them, quiet, and it was the biggest relief she could imagine, having someone there she might actually be able to talk to.

"Yeah, that's what I figured. I wasn't planning on heading back in that direction if I could help it, myself." For a mere instant, Mikaela's expression fell at the thought of home, and everything that was waiting back there for her. Staying away was no longer about what the town thought of her and her rebellious ways. It was about her Grandparents. And though one would think her grandfather's illness would bring her home, it was the one thing that drove her away. But all that business was a distant thought continuously shoved to the back of her mind, as selfish as it was. After all, she was building a life in Boston now, and everything outside of that lied in the past, where it would remain...hidden. Mikaela quickly snapped back to reality with Roxy's question; her smiling instantly returning to her face as she glanced over at her. This was the first time she had really gotten a good look at Roxy since she saw her last. There was still something different about her, that Mikaela couldn't put her finger on. Then again, relocating to another city and state could do that to a person. "I'm fine thank you, but from the looks of it, you could use a little meat on your bones. This city seems to have shrunken your waist size a bit." Arching her brow, she reached for Roxy's arm, holding it up as if it were as light as a twig, before letting her go. Mikaela's smirk gave away her teasing nature; however, she was genuinely serious about what she said. Though Roxy's thinned out frame wasn't enough to raise an alarm to her. "So, I've got a list of questions to run through. First of all, how are you? Where have you been? And who is this Niccy? He's got a pretty decent place on his hands." Her eyes scanned across the set up of the apartment in passing, as they headed into what was obviously the livingroom area, before stopping dead in her tracks to face Roxy - folding her arms across her chest as if she were demanding answers right then and there.

Conflict seemed to rage inside of Roxy as she watched her "long lost" best friend walk about. Part of her was screaming at her to tell her everything, to spill about the psycho bastard she'd killed after he kept her locked up in his basement for two months. She wanted to tell Mikaela how alone she'd felt, even after coming "home". She barely talked about it to Niccy, and only when he got that look in his eye that she was breaking his heart by shutting him out. Since they were kids, she'd always been able to tell Mikaela anything, but it seemed jumping right into 'oh you know, the usual - I was kidnapped and tortured' doesn't really put one in the mood for a happy reunion.

Instead she remained quiet, the option she'd chosen most as of late, while shifting her weight from one foot to the other. A small smile curved her lips at Mikaela's teasing, but she in turn wrapped her arms a little self consciously around herself. She was eating normally, well - not in the way that Roxy used to be able to put away food, but she was eating well enough. It was harder than she'd imagine to come back from being on the brink of starvation for two months, only to have a bottle of water and a piece of bread thrown into the cage she'd been kept in. A visible shudder coursed down her spine as she thought about it, but she quickly shook it away. "Yeah, I'll keep that in mind." She said, nodding a little bit after Mikaela let go of her arm. She had never been so happy to see her best friend, and yet feel so distant from her.

Tugging her fingers through her hair, she tugged at the ends while she considered Mikaela's questions. "Well...I'm okay, I've been um...just being little miss suzie home-maker lately." She specifically left out reasons why, though she figured Mikaela would be able to see right through her. "Niccy." She said in a little breath, a hint of a smile that wanted to break through flickering across her face. "We've been seeing each other for...going on a year now." Only the last three months of that were public knowledge, but she was leaving out the big chunks, the ones that might make the situation awkward, or worse yet, put Mikaela in danger for what she knew.

Roxy's hesitation in answering Mikaela initially seemed a bit odd. But what seemed even more strange was the fact that after months of little to no contact with her friend, suddenly Roxy didn't have much to say. Mikaela was sure there were a million and one reasons as to why she might not feel the need to explain what had been going on in her life for those few months, and even more specifically why she disappeared long enough that her mother would beg Mikaela to travel almost sixteen hundred miles just to 'check on' her. Something was missing, but Mikaela certainly wasn't the type to walk into someone's home demanding the missing pieces to Roxy's story to be filled in immediately. For all she knew, Roxy could have just become another boring 'house girlfriend', and the answers to those questions could be nothing more than exactly what she stated - all her time was spent playing Suzy Homemaker, and the loss in contact with her friends and family was due to the fact that she really didn't have a story to tell. That still left a few questions unanswered, but Mikaela wasn't going to push any harder, having just walked through the door after months of silence between the two. "So, Suzy Homemaker, I guess it's safe to say you've led a pretty mundane existence these last few months, and your mother sending me all this way was strictly out of shear paranoia on her part...Have you forgotten that I'm one of the few people who actually knows you, missy?" Ok, so the least Mikaela could do is push just a little harder. After all, Roxy didn't move to Boston to become Suzy Homemaker. That was her expected path if she had decided to stay in Louisiana, and she couldn't have gotten out of there any faster. So that right there had Mikaela already feeling doubtful. Without even giving Roxy a chance to explain further - assuming she probably wouldn't anyway - she dropped her arms to her side, before turning on her heels as she slowly began to make her way around the livingroom; admiring the little accents here and there that gave the room some personality. "So this Niccy...it's pretty serious with him, huh? You never really mentioned him in any of your emails. He's not trouble, is he?"

Roxy knew that she was acting nuts, as far as Mikaela might be concerned. She wasn't babbling on and on and excitedly flitting around the house and filling her in on her life, most likely with a stack full of photos to go along with it. She didn't want to lie to her, and couldn't stand the thought that Mikaela might think she wasn't as excited to see her as she really was.

A little bit of a smile curved her lips, but there was a sadness behind it. She wanted to tell her, she needed to tell her, but still she didn't know how to broach the subject. She couldn't just come right out and say it...and hell, she could really use a drink right about now. "Mundane...isn't exactly how I'd put it." She crossed her arms tightly together to keep her hands from shaking. She never wanted to go back there, to that place, but part of her knew that she had to talk to someone about it. Someone who she might be able to trust enough to let her in. "I was...gone for a couple of months." She said, her eyes darting around a little bit. She was being incredibly ominous, but she didn't want to bring down the mood just yet. She seemed to be the downer to any party lately.

Thankful for the slight change in subject, Roxy nodded, walking toward her and closer over to the living room as they walked. "Ah, Niccy's no more trouble than you are." She teased lightly, though it was slightly untrue. Niccy was part of one of the biggest mob families in the Eastern United States, but he was good to her, better than any of her previous boyfriends, to be sure. "But to answer your question, yeah...it's serious." She was actually a little bit excited for Niccy to meet Mikaela. Other than her brother, they were the most important people in her life, and it was only right for them to have the chance to know one another.

There was a slight shift in the atmosphere of the room when Roxy gave her short explanation - or lack there of - on what had been going on in her life over the last couple of months. Mikaela was no expert on body language, but she knew her friend. Just in the way Roxy's eyes avoided hers spoke volumes. Even after all that time, she could still tell when something was off. Deciding against pushing the subject any further, she simply gave a short nod to the few words Roxy spoke, and continued on her mini tour of the area. Mikaela smiled to herself with Roxy's teasing comment, glancing up at her friend before turning to face her once again. "Oh really? Well, since you and I have similar taste in men, and neither of us like the good boys, I guess that means he is trouble after all," she smirked, wiggling her eyebrows jokingly. "But, I suppose that's not such a bad thing. As long as he treats you good. From the look of things, he's taking good care of you. No wonder you fell off the face of the earth and forgot about me." Tapping the edge of her fingernail against the face of the flat screen television she stood directly in front of, Mikaela playfully narrowed her eyes at Roxy before moving past her to finally take a seat down onto the rather large couch that sat right smack in the middle of it all. "I suppose I can give your mother a good report when I call her back. She may be disappointed to know that I won't be dragging you home, but hell, I won't be going home either. So she can take that up with you." With a heavy shrug, she leaned herself back against the cushions before breathing out a deep sigh. "Anyway..." She said, as if she were suddenly at a loss for words. In a way, she felt like she was speaking to a complete stranger, and not to someone she had once spent every waking hour with, no more than a couple of years before. There was a time when the two of them could talk for hours on end with no interruption, but now it seemed a few months with no contact had somehow managed to erase it all. Neither of them wanted to to go into detail about what had really been going on over the last few months, so it seemed the silence and the distance that had taken place for months between the two, had now found its way into that room.

Roxy half-smiled and nodded. "Yeah, the good boys are boring." She agreed, cocking her head to the side. "He's...great." She said, anything else seeming too mushy to go into. And she hadn't exactly been the best girlfriend lately. Her eyebrows knit together when Mikaela mentioned forgetting about her, and she shook her head. "No, no that's not it..." She never wanted to be one of those girls who forgot about their friends as soon as they got a boyfriend. She stopped short, her hands breaking out of their hold around herself and knitting together. She bit at her lower lip and sunk down to the couch next to Mikaela.

A brow arched at her comment about staying, and though they could probably cut through things unsaid with a knife, she was so happy to hear it. "You're planning on staying? Oh thank God." She said, smiling a bit more genuinely this time. Roxy felt like she needed to cling to anyone and anything that would keep her sane, and Mikaela had always been someone who could be that for her.

Her dimples creased her face as she pursed her lips together in a tight line, trying to force a smile out of that, but finding that the more time they spent together, the harder it was for Roxy to keep her emotions in check. Quite the opposite with Niccy or Zeke, she found the more they were around, the easier it was for her to convince them she was fine. Probably because they hovered, they wanted to be sure she was okay, but here was Mikaela, acting exactly as she always had, and it was the most grateful that Roxy had been in a long time. People handled her with kid-gloves, and it just made it that much easier for her to suppress everything that was going on inside of her.

She sat there, her hands clasped together and wedged tightly between her knees as she tried to think of something to say. This wasn't like them. They were the girls that no matter how long they were apart, they could jabber on for hours like no time had passed at all. "So..." She said in response to Mikaela, but really wasn't sure where to go with it. She gnawed at her lower lip for a moment before she figured, maybe if she started somewhere small, somewhere that wasn't the big thing, it would be easier to get to where she could confide in her friend. "I was working with the FBI until a couple of weeks ago..." She said, the comment seeming to come out of no where. It was some place small, and she could easily go into a bit more detail about her resignation. Baby steps.

"Yes ma'am, I'll be sticking around for a good while. I figured a change would do me some good after all. When you left, things just got shitty again. You know how people were. Well after a while I figured, they'll never change, so maybe I should be the one to make the change. And then your momma called me to come here and hunt you down, so that made choosing a place to go real easy. So, here I am." Raising her arms up slightly, she let them fall back down heavily onto her lap. The truth of that matter was, even though the people in their home town did give her a hard time whenever they could, Mikaela had grown used to it after a while. So her excuse to leave Louisiana and stay gone wasn't exactly the real reason. But she hadn't even admitted it to herself, why she was so eager to stay away, so she certainly wasn't about to admit it to anyone else. "I'm glad to see that you're happy about being stuck with me again. Goodness knows you won't be playing Suzy Homemaker for much longer now that I'm around." Turning her head towards Roxy, her half smile turned into a full on grin, suggesting that whether she liked it or not, Mikaela was going to force Roxy out of the house; kicking and screaming if she had to. The expression on Roxy's face seemed to imply she wouldn't even have to be forced to give up her stay at home life. Something in the way she smiled back showed a bit of relief in response to Mikaela's words. Silence fell between the two of them once again, but this time it was interrupted by Roxy's voice, randomly blurting out the last thing Mikaela would have ever guessed she'd say. Sitting up straight, her eyes grew a little wide, showing her reaction before there were any words on her lips. "The FBI? Well damn, when you said you wanted a change, I guess you really meant it. What made you choose that profession over all the others? That must be exciting...or have been, since you obviously didn't stick with it." The last thing she could picture was Roxy walking around with a gun on her hip. It struck her with surprise, but knowing Roxy the way she did, she wasn't surprised to see she had gotten herself involved in something completely opposite from everything she had ever known back home; However, the FBI was in a category all its own.

A little wave of relief washed over Roxy when Mikaela affirmed that she would be staying around. She felt like with Mikaela around, she could actually feel normal for a while, if only to use Mikaela's talent to make her forget about her problems. Nothing was a quick-fix these days, but hell, it was a start. Her brow narrowed a little as she studied her friend, wondering what exactly it was that had driven her out of Baton Rouge now, instead of any numerous times before. She wouldn't question her decision, as she was insanely happy to have her here.

"Thank God for small miracles." She said, smirking a little, though there was less teasing behind the smirk, as the fire in Roxy had really gone out over the last few months. Not that anyone could blame her. A funny thing happens to a person when for days on end, you practically pray for death to come. "I might just let you drag me out once or twice." She said with a bit of a shrug, though the thought of leaving the safety of the home left a paralyzing fear in her.

Shrugging again at her mentioning of the FBI, she smiled a little. "Yeah, well...Y'know Zeke works there, and I guess I kind of fell into it." Pushed into it, more like. Not that she didn't go willingly. It was what Leo needed of her, and it was an honor to have been chosen. "It just uh...didn't suit." She finally said, chewing on her lower lip a little as she said it. Truth be told, part of her resented that the FBI hadn't searched for her harder. That they hadn't used their resources. She wasn't just off playing around, and after the first few days, they had to know by how worried her brother was, that she was out there. It was her boyfriend and brother who actually found her, and it must have just been their drive of how much they cared for her.

"Wow," Mikaela breathed through another sigh before falling back against the couch cushions once again. "The FBI is no joke. Can't say I expected that to be your career path. You really surprise me, Roxy. And that's in a good way." The way Roxy spoke about her job at the FBI made it seem as if there was something more to it than the fact that she just didn't like it. As she had done throughout much of their conversation, she said few words to explain her career of choice and why it was no longer her career of choice. Mikaela was no expert at being able to identify the characteristics of who might be suitable for the FBI, but it wasn't one of those jobs where a person just walked in, gave it a try, and then walked out if it didn't fit. And that was exactly how Roxy explained it. Her brow arched as she silently watched her friend for a moment. Question after question was getting her little answers, and by this time it was just becoming more and more obvious that it all just didn't add up. Roxy's attitude, her body language, her reason - or lack there of - for disappearing without a trace, everything just wasn't...her. "There seems to be some missing pieces to this whole thing. I mean I ask you question after question because I'm trying to see what's been going on with my bestfriend, but so far whatever I have asked is getting half answers. At least that's what it feels like. You don't have much to say about why you disappeared for so long, you don't have much to say about what you've been doing while you were gone, and whatever it was, you don't seem all that excited about it. If I know anything about you, which I hope I still do, I know that you are not the kind to be so short. At least not with me. Those times when you went away to Maine for the summer, you wouldn't shut up about every single detail of what you did. And now...nothing." By this time the short answers and unanswered questions were starting to confuse Mikaela even more. She didn't know whether Roxy was hiding something, or if she had changed so much over the last few months that she just didn't want to talk to Mikaela about where she'd been. Either way, the more they talked, the more confused Mikaela got.

Roxy smiled slightly, nodding a little as she thought back over her time at the FBI. From her recruitment to training and going out on field operations, it was nothing like she'd expected. The movies that depicted the FBI were a crock, so far as she was concerned. It was nothing like the real thing. She knew that there would have been worse circumstances to leave the FBI on, but they had been truly gracious. She assumed that was because they felt guilty for not being the ones to find her.

Roxy swallowed hard at a lump that had risen in her throat as she listened to Mikaela. She nodded a little, staring down at her hands as she twisted her fingers tightly together. Her eyes seemed intent on welling up with tears as everything rose abruptly to the surface. She spent weeks just repressing her memories, wanting them gone so badly that she's just force them out of her mind. Her eyes glanced up to Mikaela, and she hadn't even noticed that her hands were trembling. "I um...it's not that I don't want to tell you, and I'm so glad to see you, you have no idea..." She practically croaked out the last bit. Biting down hard on her lower lip, she inhaled deeply through her nose and shook her head. "A lot has happened..." She said, trying to think of the best way to put this and not scare the holy shit out of her best friend. There really was no sugar coating when it came to the situation. "It happened on Halloween..." She started, unable to meet Mikaela's eyes. "Niccy and I had gotten into a big fight, and I was stupid - I stormed off...I'm still a little fuzzy on the details of what happened but I felt a needle go into my neck, and then just...nothing." She fought at the tears while a shiver coursed down her spine. "I woke up several hours later, and I didn't know where I was, or how I got there." She stopped abruptly, finally forcing herself to look at Mikaela to gauge her reaction.

The air in the room grew thick with tension as Mikaela watched Roxy stare at her hands in silence. She must have said the wrong thing without realizing how wrong it was, because suddenly she could see the change in Roxy's demeanor as her shoulders fell and her eyes stayed averted downcast; as if it pained her to even look at Mikaela, let along speak to her. The moment Mikaela opened her mouth to speak, perhaps to change the subject as she then realized her words may have done damage, Roxy's eyes rose to meet her gaze, and she began to speak. Mikaela could see the tears well up in her eyes and hear the way her voice trembled when she spoke - matching the trembling her hands as they lay slack in her lap. It all had begun to come together in her mind. She didn't know what 'it' was, but it was quickly made obvious to her that 'it' wasn't good. Something had happened during those months, and it was much more than just the casual explanation of things originally told to her. Mikaela could feel the knots forming in her stomach as Roxy began to fill in the missing pieces. Sliding further down the couch and closer to her friend, she reached her hand across; gently placing it over Roxy's hands that seemed to tremble more as she continued on with her explanation. "My God," she said, pausing for a moment as she found herself without any proper words to speak. "So someone drugged you and...kidnapped you?" The words almost sounded unreal to her, as if they were the kind that were only spoken by the characters in a movie or on a TV screen. Her mind immediately began to race with random thoughts. Could it have been because of the FBI?...Maybe it was this Niccy guy. Maybe he was bad news after all... Her eyebrows met in a deep frown as each thought that passed through her mind continued to worsen. "What happened to you?" She spoke softly, her voice coming across in a much more soothing tone than it had in the words before.

As hard as it was for to say it, it felt somewhat cathartic to tell someone she knew probably wasn't going to get so angry their first instinct was to kill the son of a bitch, even though he was already dead. She squeezed her fingers into fists before she nodded, swallowing hard before she spoke. "Yeah...he did." She said, her voice more hoarse than her usual voice.

Her eyes closed again for a second as she got her bearings, trying to stomach drudging up these memories. "I was there for...a little under two months. He kept me alive that long." She said, bitterness seeping through her words as she said it. She shook her head a little, biting down hard on her lower lip. "I guess the better question is what didn't he do to me." She looked up at Mikaela and offered a bit of a morose smile. "Everything you can possibly think...that's pretty much what happened. It got so bad..." She trailed off a moment, trying to find the words to say what had gone on in that room. "I was just praying for him to do it and kill me already." She barely squeaked out the last bit as another visible shudder ran up her spine.

For the first time since she had walked through the door, Mikaela was left utterly speechless. It was a rare thing for her not to find something to say, in any situation, but this was a first. This was not something she ever imagined hearing from anyone she knew, let alone Roxy. These things just didn't happen where they were from. At least not in their lifetime. No wonder she disappeared, no wonder she had nothing to say to Mikaela after all this time. "I..." She said before pausing, as she collected enough thoughts to finally speak. "I can't believe this happened to you. I mean, I've never seen you do a bad thing in your life...besides the stupid shit we used to do, but nothing to deserve this. Why would anyone do this to you? Was it just some sick fucker who had nothing better to do with his time? Was it because of the FBI? Or someone trying to get to someone you knew?...You didn't know this man, did you?" Her first thought was that Roxy had been the unfortunate one to get attacked by some lunatic who had it out for the FBI, but really, she wasn't so sure. Mikaela had no idea how and why someone would pick her of all people, to torture in such a way. "I'm sorry," she muttered softly following her previous questions she had fired off so randomly. It was obvious what the whole conversation was doing to Roxy, and the last thing Mikaela wanted to do was make her relive the details of what she went through. It was just one of those things that she honestly couldn't wrap her head around.

A slightly embittered chuckle left her lips and she shook her head, pursing her lips tightly together. "I'm no saint." She said, though there was a deep seeded truth behind that. Part of her fought against the idea that it was her own damn fault, getting involved with the Italian mob, going against "God and Country" to serve them, but the other part of her just gave into that way of thinking. Maybe it was her own fault. Roxy closed her eyes for a second after Mikaela's questions, trying to gather her thoughts. She was more than likely beyond scaring the hell out of her, so it wasn't like anything she said would be a huge shock. "He was just... He kept telling me about something I did. I helped him sometime, but for the life of me I couldn't even remember his face. Something about seeing me in a grocery store...I don't know." The words were coming out faster now as she relived it, remembering the sickening way he'd smile at her, or the tenor of his voice that made her want to break into pieces. "He just picked me out of millions I guess. And I wasn't the first." She said, remembering him telling her exactly what had happened to all the other girls, and what he had so cockily assumed would happen to her.

"I was his last though." She said firmly, her jaw setting strong as she said it. Her fingers twitched involuntarily, seeing his dead body on the floor as if he were right in front of her again. There was vindication in that. Snapping out of it somewhat, she looked up at Mikaela and shrugged a little when she apologized. "I should be sorry...I just, I couldn't deal with anyone and..." She paused, shaking her head a little before sighing. "I'm just so glad you're here." She breathed with a little hint of a smile, one that was more genuine than the ones she'd given before. Maybe having her best friend here was exactly what she needed. She hadn't told any of that to anyone else, not even Niccy.
