Castiel looked at Lydia curiously. The fact she could help Sam move was impressive on it's own. He was large for a human. She was small. That wasn't the strangest thing about the situation by any means. "She's not an angel," Cas said quickly, his head tilted to show his curiosity. It would have been easier if she had been, in some ways. At least clearer. She wasn't connected to Heaven as he was. He could gather a few clues but he had never met anything like Lydia before.
It was tempting to see her only as a problem but she had such a warm personality that he already felt a desire to keep her going too. To help her find herself. "I am not yet sure what she is." He looked at Lydia. "Have you ever died?"
Cas didn't miss what Sam's gesture meant. Pain. Significant enough to lay Sam flat and he knew that Sam wasn't the sort of man to be brought down easily. He frowned. He wasn't sure how much the doctor could do but he would give him a chance.
"Please tell me what the doctor says," he asked Sam. "I may be able to help if his methods are insufficient." Humans were, in a way, still a bit of a mystery too him. He was only determined to help and that involved a steep learning curve.
