Letter from Jezebel Walsingham to Lilias Wilkes Taverner, 17 Sept 1942 [28.01.09|23:10]

Strongly warded and sealed

Dr Taverner:

This trip has been quite profitable; I have more than enough evidence to show that this school is one step away from anarchy. It should be shut down, but definitely not put in the charge of the Leffoys or any of their creatures. Such as Goyle, who seems far more concerned with the school's artifices than its students.

No, it is most assuredly time to make a fresh start, with new teachers and a new curriculum. The current state of affairs is quite appalling; the Beasts class is taught by a foreigner who seems to have no credentials whatsoever, and who has some very strange ideas regarding Entities. Defence, likewise, appears to be taught by whoever is available. I fear for the future of this country if this is allowed to continue.

Rumours of a possible lightning rain run rampant; I have been unable to determine if there is any basis to this or whether it is yet another symptom of the chaos which afflicts the students.

But my other task has been fruitless; the Dashwood boy has eluded me.

Sincerely,
Jezebel Walsingham

Securely sealed and warded, sent by bonded courier directly to the office of the Dux Bellorum:

Ned:

I know what happened during the last lightning rain in Londinium and that it was reversed by the actions of Eliot Gardiner working in co-operation with an individual calling himself Raphael Trevelyan, into whose past you have made some inquiries.

This individual has entered my service and as I do understand the importance of this work to the war effort, I am willing to attach him to Gardiner's office.

However, I am sure you will appreciate that it is I who will be 'debriefing' him.

I understand that there are difficulties now concerning the Academy, as Mrs Walsingham has overheard a bit of that, and that you are much occupied with those; but as it seems to me that you may need him very shortly, I expect to hear from you soon.

I shall tell him not to make any romantic plans for the evening, as he is likely to be occupied. Of course I do hope this will not be the case.

Lily
