I have written to your parents asking their permission for you and your sister to stay with me over the holidays. As this is her first year away from home, I think it best for her family to be together. I will, of course, allow you to visit your friends.

Dear Anjali,
I am sorry to hear about the other girls in your school. I would not worry too much about what your roommate says about the situation; it is unlikely she knows much more than you do. I have sent along a book that should help you understand how to protect yourself. It also contains several hexes you can use on your belongings that will protect them from being stolen, even by your brother.
I haven't heard back from your parents yet, but it will take some time for an answer to arrive. Don't worry. If the school closes they cannot keep you, but it would be best if you stayed here with me. Travel to India is not safe at the moment.
