In reply to his previous letter, written on the parchment he sent her which is warded so that only he can read it:
Dear Endymion,
Thank you so much for the parchment. Mother says to be sure to tell you that she didn't try to read your last letter, which can only mean she wants something from you. But then if you're at the Leffoy's it's pretty obvious what that is. She's so upset that she doesn't know anything more about the weddings than was printed in the Prophet. (We didn't get one today, I do hope something else hasn't happened.)
I've read the instructions you sent me and I don't think I'll have any trouble. I don't know if my new school offers chemistry--they might do, because of the war. I know some of the girls in my last school planned on having careers instead of husbands. Wouldn't Mother be so annoyed if I did that?
Yes, she thinks that I will end up marrying one of my classmates' brothers. I am so jealous of you (and your friend Nadya); I'd much rather have one of my classmates. Some of them are even willing. If only girls weren't something one is expected to give up on leaving school.
