Note posted in St Mungo's junior staffroom, night of 13 September 1942... |

There is a KitKat thief in this hospital!
I've warded the rest of them and I am going to find out who you are.
I know that some of us live in places where there is rationing.
There will be rationing everywhere soon (read the papers).
That doesn't make it okay to steal my KitKats! |

Owl from Michael Charteris to Nicodemo Zabini, dated 14 September 1942... |
[07.06.08|23:03] |
Strongly warded, and sealed with his seal:
My dear Mr Zabini:
It is just a few minutes after midnight as I write this, so you probably will not read it until the morning. Nonetheless, I shall not go out until I have your reply, for the matter is one of some urgency.
I have been told of young Magister Doctor Malfoy's perplexing illness, and his failure to recover properly despite the predictions of his healers. I believe that I may be able to help him, and you. If it is indeed necessary that the entirety of the bloodline be present on the land in order to effect his full recovery, I can facilitate this. I cannot bring his younger sister, for I do not know where she is, but it is doubtful, I am sure you are aware, that Séverine is a Malfoy in any way except the name.
However, there are other members of the family with whom I am acquainted, and they have just arrived at my home in Penzance. It will be no trouble at all for me to bring them up to the Manor first thing in the morning; we await only your word.
There are other matters we should discuss as well, but a letter, no matter how well-warded, is not the place for this. I owe you and Lady Malfoy a number of apologies, and those are always best delivered in person.
Best regards, Michael Charteris |
