Yes, I am very interested to hear what has been going on at Hogwarts. It is quite disgraceful how things have been allowed to get out of hand; of course the war effort is important, but that does not mean we should lose sight of the battle for the minds of our next generation.

And yes, I am most pleased at your diligence in rooting out the pernicious activities of the house-elves. So many people take their obedience for granted; a dangerous assumption, as you are quite aware, for who can ever be certain exactly where the loyalties of such creatures lie?

Let me just say once again how sorry I am that you were not made Head Girl; I'm certain the young lady who holds that position is doing as well as she can, but times like these call for Hufflepuff practicality, not Gryffindor idealism. No offence, of course, to your new Headmaster.

I shall try to make it up there as soon as possible; if the school is to be closed, I need to be able to make a complete report on the situation. I will be certain to include your concerns as well as your suggestions, with which I heartily agree.
