The sulk was answered with nothing but a raised eyebrow over the edge of Madeleine's tea cup. Please. She knew her mother. That was one of the many reasons that introducing her made such an effective threat against certain people. Granted, when she had wielded Lila as a threat against Zaviar, she hadn't actually meant it. In fact, she was fairly certain she had revoked that threat rather quickly. "You mean besides my being a vindictive scorned woman?" she replied archly, moving to add sugar to her tea and choosing to forget that remark had any other meaning. In theory, the longer she played ignorant, the longer the conversation would last before it dissolved into some variant of "keep your hands, eyes and thoughts away from him". Again, in theory. She forced herself not to smirk at the second remark, instead giving Zaviar a look before sipping her tea almost innocently. "Yes, they really do." And he knew it.
The monkey broke in. Wonderful. The snake trying to idle her way into the room without being noticed received a glare as Madeleine placed herself on the end of the bed - between Zaviar and her mother. "And if you called before you left the country or even the airport, I would have known to stay home." Dinner? There were easier ways of putting that question across. "Zaviar is spoken for, mother. Find your own Yank." Which she assumed was the answer she was looking for.
