Feel a little bit out of place
Who: Adam and Aurora
Where: U of M campus
When: Early afternoon
Aurora had not heard the news. But to be fair, Aurora hardly ever heard the news. The TV was not something that she was familiar with or able to work, neither was the radio, and she clearly could not read the newspaper so unless someone told her what was happening she remained completely oblivious. And she was okay with that. Lack of knowledge did not damage her since it was knowledge that she had never really been privy to at anytime in her life. News up on the mountain usually related to which village might need rain the most or that a traveling salesman was stopping by with fabric and other things. It was never so serious as 'demons might come back'. Had she heard that news then Aurora may have hidden under her bed and not come back out until she was told that it was safe. So it was probably better that they had not because today she was going to go and find the nice man from the ice cream shop with the soothing voice that had described her so well. Adam, she was going to find Adam, and it had taken awhile but with help from one of the other ladies in Ad Gustum she had managed to figure out that Adam worked at the University of Michigan. The idea of a university, of school in general really, had always intrigued Aurora and so she had practically jumped on the opportunity to go there. Since she had finished with her morning client she figured that today, being a lovely day, was as good a time as any. It was also another step in her individual progress of getting to know people outside of the family. Outside of her twin. She loved Aetheria more than herself, yes, but sometimes it was nice to be alone.
Toying with her dangly earrings, Aurora thanked the driver who had brought her to the campus and hoped out. Since it was the middle of the day there had been prodding necessary, but Neveah had agreed to come along after she realize that no, her elemental was not just going to shut up and go away because it was her sleeping time. Poor owl was going to end up on the most messed up schedule for her kind ever if Aurora had anything to say about it. And, seeing as how they shared a telepathic link, she sort of did. 'Sidewalk... go right. And stay on the right, there are some people coming down. People all over the place.' The owl had taken flight when the car stopped, stretching her wings out and swooping lazily through the air. She was big enough to dissuade other daytime predators from touching her but the humans still gawked since owls during the day were not exactly a common sighting. Where are the people? Aurora asked, curious. She could not see what they were doing but not too far away she heard chatter and then beyond that was what sounded a lot like... singing? Her face brightened and she turned towards that. 'Back on the sidewalk, Aurora! Aurora? That's not the right way... you're not listening to me.'
Aurora's attention may have drifted away from her original goal. Music had that effect on her. Neveah gave a mental sigh and began to mutter something about how of course she had gotten an air elemental who could not keep her attention locked onto any one thing ever. Which had the advantage of being true, but Aurora never thought about it. There were simply too many things in the world to pay attention to to allow oneself to be too focused. 'You should bring Aetheria here. I think she'd like the colors.' Aurora nodded and hoped that Neveah would remember to remind her of that fact at a later date when she would actually be able to act on it. 'Aurora! You're going to-' Before the owl could finish her thought Aurora felt her foot catch on something and then she was tumbling onto the sidewalk, hands having gone out to break her fall before she really thought about it. The woman gave a quiet cry when she fell, pushing herself back up immediately as her hands felt over her exposed skin to see if... ah, there, warm and sticky blood. A pout immediately formed on her face. Bleeding was never a good thing, but worse for her because her blood usually only spilled for a very specific purpose. Because she had tripped and skinned her knee and palms? Not the reason. 'Told you you should have brought your sister.' What was that thing Angel had had? A dog of some sort. Sniffling, Aurora started to hum very quietly, the wing tugging at her hair as she did. At least having her element present in more than a passive way helped.
