Because maybe you're gonna be the one that saves me Who: Jasper and Erin When: Shortly after 6PM Where: U of M Hospital
There were certain benefits to being from a family that new everybody. Erin was on a first-name basis with a lot of doctors and nurses at the hospital - even ones she didn’t regularly see down in the morgue, or her lab. She knew when something big happened, and could often be found with one group of doctors or nurses in the cafeteria at lunch, catching up on the day’s gossip. This was how she found out that Jasper McQueen was currently a patient at their lovely establishment. Sure, the fact that she knew was technically against state and federal privacy laws, but she could always just play the ‘hey, sorry, I’m psychic!’ card and leave it at that. It was a fun defense to use, when called on something. Most of the time, people just stared and blinked at her while trying to gage how serious she was.
When Erin’s shift ended, she went to go pay Jasper a little visit. She wasn’t sure if she was overstepping by doing so, but then again, she didn’t really care! Excellent. She liked him, and with him being new to the touch-know club, she felt somehow responsible for him. Like she had to keep an eye out on his behalf.
Plus, she wanted to fuck his brains out. At least once. For funsies.
She was smiling to herself at the thought as she found his room, and after a little knock at the door, she actually waited for permission rather than barge right in. That was respect. Doctors never did that.
Jasper had spent the entire day resting in bed, because oh wait. He couldn’t do anything else. It sucked to be bound there, bruises and welts all over his body, most noticeably the black eye. It was... well, interesting to have his brother show up earlier and rip him ten new assholes. Then again, that’s how the McQueens rolled. Having Erin Forsythe show up at his door? A complete and utter surprise... though definitely a good one. Jasper had been constantly thinking about the girl on and off, feel so embarrassed about the drunken shenanigans at the bar. She didn’t deserve to be treated like a piece of meat that some drunken idiot wanted to tap. He would have much preferred to take her out to some nice place for dinner, maybe go walking out in downtown after, and just be a gentleman. She deserved that... and Jasper kind of wanted that. Slowly opening his eyes, he actually smiled upon seeing her. “Hey you,” he spoke softly, but loud enough to hear. Wasn’t expectin’ an angel to stop on by to say hello tonight.
Well, he looked like shit. But, considering it was Jasper, he managed to make that look good. Yes, he took to getting roughed up real purdy. She grinned brightly and entered the room, deciding that she wouldn’t be bothering him. “Hey yourself, stranger,” she replied, mimicking his southern drawl. “A little bird told me you were up here. Jesus, man, did you lose a fight with a truck?” Or win one, maybe. Them country boys were built tough.
There was a slight chuckle from Jasper as she spoke, wishing he actually did have the upper hand in the battle with the vampire. At least he left Kitty alone, so that had to be a win, right? “I wish I actually did fight a truck. Way easier then takin’ on a vamp.” Moving his head to the side to face Erin, he couldn’t help but have his eyes scan over her. Who would have ever thought he would be crushing on a girl like her? She was the polar opposite of Elsie... and it was extremely hot.
“You didn’t,” Erin replied, raising an eyebrow. Oh, yes. This was a story she was going to have to hear. Not like she had any room to criticize him, having been the girl who took an axe to a demon’s face on her own back porch. That, she had been told many times, was a dumb idea. Fuck it, it worked. She crossed the rest of the distance in the room, pulling up a chair and making herself comfy to hear his explanation. Being off the clock and a simple visitor now, she pulled her lapcoat off and let it drape over the back of the chair. She could tell he was looking - might as well give him something worth looking at. Better than flowers, right?
“Yeah, I-” Words just didn’t exist for that moment the second she stripped off that labcoat. Jasper was pretty sure that a hospital was not the proper place to be getting a boner right now. But holy crap, she looked amazing. After blinking, he cleared his throat lightly and went on. “I did. Long story short, was lookin’ after this girl who was caught up in some blood slave thing. Her kidnapper came back after her and... yeah this guy right here came to save the day.” And he kind of did, seeing the vampire fucked off. Right now he had to focus on recovering, but the second he was out? Him and Jamie had some vampire hunting to do.
Erin managed not to smirk triumphantly when he tripped over his words. Nope, her face remained completely impassive, simply waiting to hear his story. Which was, admittedly, pretty damn impressive. “You know, for an undercover cop, you kind of suck at that undercover part,” she pointed out. Hey, at least she wasn’t giving him shit for nearly ending up as dinner. “Noble, though. How is she?” Then she smiled. “Better yet, how are you?”
“Hey now, at least I’m not one of them dipshits that blows his cover,” Jasper smirked a bit before letting out a sigh. “She’s ok, I think. Kinda blacked out towards the end, but I made sure the fucker didn’t touch her.” And as for himself? Bit of a loaded question. “Been better. Gettin’ my dislocated arm popped back in place hurt like a bitch, but at least I’m alive.” His eyes sorted of flickered with an inner fire behind them. “...right?” Means I get to see you.
“Alive is good,” Erin confirmed, smiling back at him. “I’d rather you not end up on my table.” To put it mildly. She’d already had one friend end up there, and she hoped to God it never happened again. “Most of your blood still in your body, heart still pumping... all good things. Is the vamp going to make trouble for you?”
If Jasper was going to end up on her table, it would involve nothing to do with being dead and everything involving her on top of him. Just saying. “Give me trouble? Pff, ya kiddin’ me? The second I’m healed up, Jamie and I are huntin’ that fucker down and showin’ him who’s boss. Don’t ya worry, sugar.” He gave Erin that signature smirk with a wink to put the cherry on top. “Nothin’ to worry ‘bout.” Like hell the McQueen twins were going to let a vampire get the advantage. They had degrees in being BAMFs and would lay down the law while they were at it.
Erin grinned as he poured it on thick. Uh-huh. Sure. Well, they had both been unafraid of the thought of demons and signed up to help take them out. She was inclined to believe him. There could be complications though - even without looking at the fact that the badass McQueen twins were made out of spongy - albiet glorious - flesh. “Did you touch him?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. She was betting that would have lead to some pretty fucked up visions. She’d been terrified of having the demon so much as brush against the bottom of her foot.
Jasper’s smirk faded away the second Erin brought up the question. That was something he didn’t want to recall again. “...yeah,” he confessed, a bit ashamed of it. “Not on my list of ‘this that are awesome.’ That guy...” Jasper closed his eyes, remembering those visions that bombarded the fuck out of him. “He’s a killer. A sadist. I saw him beatin’ women. Killin’ them. It just disgusts me that someone like that is just runnin’ ‘round out there.” He worried about Kitty’s safety, but most of all, he worried about the women subjected to this man in Scarlet Oak. Jasper didn’t even want to think what would have happened if this guy got a hold of Erin.
That was what Erin was afraid of. She’d seen a lot of things she would have rather avoided in her life, but at least she could say she’d never seen into the life of a monster. Her fear in this case would be Jasper being so distracted by the horrors playing out in his mind that, in his distraction, the monster would get the upper hand. Maybe that was even what happened, she wasn’t about to ask. She leaned forward and put her hand on his leg. She wasn’t so sure he’d appreciate her taking his hand, and thus forcing another vision on him. Even if she had borderline molested him at Chloe’s birthday party. At least this way, all she got was a brief history of the sheet. And not the fun side, either. “Gloves are your friend,” she said, gently. “Remember?”
If only she knew all the things that simple touch was doing to him. He really wished he wasn’t all broken or else he would rather pull her into his arms and snuggle. He needed someone close right now, even if he was in semi-denial about it. He was petrified of his clairsentience going off, but Erin was a pro at this. She’d help... right? “Yeah, I know... just the last thing on my mind when I got the call that she was in trouble. Kinda rolled outta bed and rushed out with a thought. Shit, I almost ran out without my pants on.” Pause. Shit, did I just say that outloud? The McQueens definitely had a genetic trait that was classified under ‘word vomit.’
Okay, so that thought made Erin smile. Just a little bit. “I’m sure that would have proven to be a very effective weapon against the big, bad vampire,” she replied, forcing a solemn look back onto her face. “Disarming through the shock factor. I like it.” She’d like it better without the whole ‘life being in danger’ thing, but what could you do? “Oh well. At least you got this sexy gown out of the deal. It’s not a total loss.”
Jasper just laughed at Erin’s words. Thank god for a girl with an amazing sense of humor. He sure as fuck needed it now. And the second she went off and said that about the gown? That had Jasper blushing. He didn’t expect her to be complimenting him sober. Shit, he figured that night just happened due to alcohol. The idea of Erin actually being interested in him? That brought a million butterflies to his stomach. “Well, it’s not exactly Prada or whatever that shit is, but I’m glad ya approve.” He paused, hesitating to say it... oh fuck it, he was going for this. “Though I think ya got the sexier of the gowns in this hospital.”
Oh, yes. Erin was grinning. And even feigned modesty at his having noticed. Psh. Of course he noticed. He was supposed to. “Hospital fashion is an art,” she said. “When I was young I had a lot of teachers tell me someday I would have to grow up and dress like a big kid. Then they had that goth chick on NCIS and I felt like I’d started a trend. Sure, she technically beat me to it, but I had the idea first.” If she was being honest, she was a little surprised Jasper had any interest in her. He didn’t seem the type to be into crazy inked up bitches with a face full of metal. Not that she was complaining. She sighed and sat straight again, though she kept her arm on his bed. “How long do you have to stay here?”
That’s ok, Jasper was surprised himself he was so into Erin. Something about that personality of hers just made her radiate with beauty. The tattoos and piercings were pretty damn fierce and Jasper was liking them more and more with each passing moment. He laughed gently as she went on about her fashion and nodded in response. “Well, it looks good on ya. Not complainin’.” Shit, Jasper wasn’t dead. “And... I dunno, a few more days? Even then I’ll need to take it easy with healin’ and stuff. I personally can’t wait to get the fuck outta here. This is worse than a hangover.”
A few days for a dislocated shoulder. Erin did not like the sound of that, and it made her wonder if things were worse than he was telling her. “You should have tried to get a drink of the fucker’s blood,” she pointed out. “From what I hear, you’d be running marathons around town by now.” Or she’d put him to other use. You know, whichever. She propped her head up on her hand, smirking faintly as he mentioned the hangover. “And I’m guessing you’ve already had a pretty brutal go with that this week. Your brother’s gonna need to put you in a plastic bubble.”
Oh yeah, things were worse. A couple broken ribs for sure, but he didn’t want to frighten her. Plus hospitals had this weird tendency of freaking out over mundane things when Jasper just wanted to talk away from it. Sleep in his own bed, smoke a cigarette, that kind of shit. “This week has just been fuckin’ shit, not gonna lie. I need a bubble for the bubble at this rate.” He groaned hard and brought his head back, closing his eyes to relax for a moment and calm down. Then when he opened his eyes again, he looked over to Erin, still blushing gently, and spoke, “Ya know... it was really a pleasant surprise to have ya come on down.” Then he moved his hand over to hers, gently taking a hold of it. He didn’t care what visions came from it, but they were WAY more pleasant than the ones he saw the other night. “Definitely the highlight of my day.”
Again, if she was being entirely honest with herself, Erin had been worried about what she would see if they touched, but she was skilled at keeping what she saw from not affecting how she looked or acted. Really, what she saw wasn’t as bad as it could have been, what with what had just happened and the subject matter. She did see quick little glimpses of the fight, and they were painful to take in, but there were other things, too. He was drinking a lot. Too much, it seemed. She also saw when his hands had been on her. That seemed like the better thing to focus on, though she filed the other information away for another day. She smiled. “Of course. Maybe if you’re a good boy and eat all your jello it will happen again.”
Now Jasper was nothing but goo with Erin saying things like that. She definitely knew how to make him blush and get his body all tingly. “I would definitely like that, not gonna lie.” He couldn’t stop looking at her, simply admiring everything about her. She deserved someone good in her life and Jasper was hoping he could be that someone... he just needed to get the fuck over himself, move on and away from Elsie, and not be scared shitless of being intimate with someone. And speaking of Erin deserving respect. “And... um... I’m sorry what happened at the bar. Was kinda drunk... sure ya realized that. Didn’t mean to disrespect ya or anythin’.” Though he didn’t apologize for actually doing it. God, he’d give anything to do it again sober.
One of Erin’s eyebrows shot up again. Did he really just apologize for getting hands-y on a dance floor? Oh, Lord. He is so shy. He is so southern. I am going to completely destroy this poor country boy. She thought about that for a moment, decided it was pretty damn true, and committed herself to the act. That’s okay, he’ll have fun. Good, now that that was settled... “I didn’t feel disrespected. Did it ever occur to you that the tattooed bitch that works in the morgue and organizes demon hunting parties is perfectly capable of bitchsmacking a guy that crosses her line?” She smirked faintly. “I’m a big girl.”
… well then... That was... NOT what Jasper expected to hear, just making him blush more. Did she actually enjoy it? Did she actually like him back and it was amplified by alcohol? Jasper wasn’t sure, but he liked the idea of that. “...um... that’s good to hear.” Yup, he was completely shy and by the end of this visit, Erin was going to break him in at least ten different ways. “I just... couldn’t help it, I guess.” Again, word vomit. It sucked. “Didn’t want ya gettin’ the wrong idea. Not that I didn’t want to... just... Fuck.” Talking was hard right now. Maybe shutting up would do him some good.
...Okay, Erin was going to hell. Even if she knew damn well what he meant, she couldn’t ignore what was actually said. He was too shy. Too easy a target. “Oh, is that what you wanted?” she asked, one eyebrow raising over the other again. She still had that smirk on her face. She couldn’t help it. Too. Fucking. Easy.
Jasper right now? Dead. Totally dead. That look she was giving him just put all sorts of thoughts in his head that again, was not helping that hard on one bit. He just stared into those lovely eyes of hers for a moment, a bit dumbfounded for a second before swallowing hard and replying timidly, “...maybe?” The answer was yes times infinity. It was, you know, just a tad obvious from the look on his face and the way he was looking at her. Guy had it bad.
...HOLY FUCKING SHIT, THAT HAD BEEN HER JOKE GUESS. She had been KIDDING. Holy shit, he admitted it! I can’t believe he managed that. Erin actually laughed. How had they not fucked then and there? How had he not known he totally could have hit that? A couple of times, even, presuming he didn’t pass out after the first round. Not knowing what else to say, and not wanting him to feel like she was laughing at him, she leaned forward and kissed him, ignoring the visions for now. “You need to get back on your feet,” she murmured. “Soon.”
He actually thought she was laughing at him, the look on his face filled with guilt, though that all washed away the second she leaned in and kissed him. Thankfully for him, those visions of his only triggered via his hands and arms, though that didn’t mean there weren’t visions of her in general dancing about his head. Good god, when was the last time he kissed a girl? Way too fucking long, that’s all he knew. He had forgotten how fucking amazing this felt, actually moaning softly into her lips before she pulled away. Opening his eyes to stare into hers, he licked his lower lip, really not wanting to stop there. “I’d really like that,” he agreed, his voice also a whisper. Then he brought his head up to nuzzle into her face for a second, then closed his ease to ease into another kiss. She was too damn good at this just to settle for one.
Erin smiled into it, figuring that he hadn’t been with a girl since coming into his power. That was okay. She was pretty sure she could show him that it was something to be embraced. She got up from the chair, gently sitting instead at the side of his bed so neither of them would have to lean so far. She didn’t want to get him all worked up when there was dick (no pun intended) he could do about it, but she couldn’t really pull away just yet either. He probably needed the pick-me-up anyway. She brought her hand up and cupped his face, figuring her touch wasn’t weirding him out. He hadn’t objected to anything, and he knew her power was, ah, universal, so to speak. Most of what she was seeing were things she already knew - memories she shared. Though that certainly didn’t help her in the need to stop and be a big girl.
The fact that Erin didn’t pull away made Jasper smirk a little in that kiss. He cherished the hell out of that hand resting against his face and all he could do in response was bring a hand up to rest at her hip. God, he really wanted to pull her down and just embrace her. A bit hard with all the things attached to his body and the fact he was stuck in a hospital bed. Still, that didn’t stop him from making out with her, each kiss making his body shiver in the best way possible. He nibbled carefully at her lower lip, rather loving those snakebites she had. Who ever thought those would be a massive turn on?
Boy, he was a fast learner. Yeah, he needed to heal. Yesterday. Erin grinned and rubbed her thumb back and forth across his cheek. “Are you on heavy painkillers? Am I taking advantage of you? If you feel disrespected tomorrow I’m going to put you in the ICU.” Okay, so Erin was incapable of not teasing somebody, no matter the circumstances. It was kind of her Thing.
This was the guy who was known for being a womanizer back in high school. All he needed was time to heal and that charm came back full force. Though now he had way more respect towards women and it showed. “If I wasn’t, then I’d be pretty damn miserable right now. And sugar,” he bumped noses with her, smiling some more. “You can take advantage as much as ya wanna.” Yup, she was doing an excellent job at breaking down that barrier of his. Exactly what he needs. Jameson was probably clapping somewhere.
Erin laughed softly. “Well, not really,” she pointed out. “I do have some standards. And ‘not broke the fuck up’ is kind of one of them.” She wondered how hard it would be to get her hands on some vamp blood in this town. It was supposed to be easy, right? Vampire underworld, supposedly. How hard could it be? Legally, anyway. Huh. “I’ll reconsider that offer when you’re back on your feet.” And possibly dream about it in the meantime. That’d work.
He didn’t have a single clue was to what Erin was plotting in that mind of hers. Vampire blood was kind of the last thing he expected, anyways. Though hearing those words earned another kiss from Jasper, his tongue gently licking at her lips before pulling away. “Much obliged,” her murmured. “Maybe when I get outta this hell hole, you and I can redo that bar thing.” He chuckled. “And not get that drunk.” Yup, he was totally asking her out on a date. Was the proper thing to do, anyways.
Erin grinned. “That sounds like a plan,” she confirmed. Or a date. You know, whatever. “Don’t know that you’ll be dancing any time soon though. I have a feeling you’re gonna be on your feet for a while.” Which was sad in so many ways. Who woulda’ thunk it. Medical cockblock. What a bitch. “If nothing else, I hope my company is proper incentive to follow the doctor’s orders and get well soon.”
“Trust me, it is,” Jasper reassured her. God, it was hard to pull away from her, nuzzling into her face on and off. He had been so terrified of getting close to someone again, not wanting to hurt them or get overwhelmed by his powers. This, though? This felt good. It felt right. And he knew Jameson was going to throw a fucking kegger the second he found out about this. “Guess I got an IOU when it comes to dancin’. I’ll just try to entertain ya in other ways.” Wow, that wasn’t suppose to come off as dirty. Whoops, too late.
Other ways. Erin closed her eyes at the thought. Damn. Okay, sign her up. Despite how shy he was, she wasn’t really surprised with how affectionate he turned out to be. She kind of got that vibe off of him. The big ole’ teddy bear that needed a girl to break through that outer shell. Well, Erin was supremely good at that kind of thing. “Deal,” she confirmed, with a wicked grin. Could not be helped. He’d just have to learn to deal with her perverted ways.
And Jasper just grinned right back at her. “Deal,” he echoed her words, just to steal another kiss from her. Ok, it was way more than one, but the guy couldn’t help himself. It had been a long time since he felt this happy and Erin was doing the best job ever with that. He didn’t want to stop anytime soon, not wanting to let go of this happy nerve that he was hanging onto. And even when they would inevitably stop and Erin had to leave, he knew he’d still be smiling and just touch the bed sheets in hopes to revisit that moment.
