Facing Truths
Who: Hal and Maurus
Where: Hal's place
When: Mid afternoon
This was possibly a very bad idea. All right, it was and it wasn't. He needed someone to be with Lux the entire night, but he couldn't leave Annie alone either, especially if she'd been infected. While he was still praying that she wasn't, he wasn't the sort to rely on others to do anything for him. Of course, Maurus was young, he'd likely not know the first thing about dealing with weres, especially bitten ones on the full moon. And as good as a lad as he was, he might not be able to handle what sweet, shy Lux became during one. Not being able to deal with someone else's curses and choices didn't make someone a bad person. It just meant it wasn't to be. Before things progressed any further between them, they needed to know if he could handle what had been inflicted on her.
And well, Priscilla would have his guts for garters if anything happened to her boy. She'd threatened his firstborn when they'd spoken on the phone, which was rather disturbing since he was forty-five, single and had no children. Yet, he knew she meant it.
Yes, this could be a very bad idea. But there weren't many other options.
Hal checked over the cage which had held Lux well for the last two years' worth of full moons. Every seemed in order. he had a dart pistol with a strong (actually magical) sedative sitting on the table next to the chair he'd sat in to watch her. Ironically, he hoped Maurus had brought a book. Since that's generally what he did while she rampaged around the cage. Read. Watching a were beat herself silly against the cage bars was actually not as exciting as people thought. Especially hours of it until she exhausted herself.
Poor Lux. Dealing with that for the rest of her life. He was more than hoping Maurus was the lad who could endure it with her.
