Had he been able to turn around, Quentin would have given Lauren a real, genuine smile. "I'd really appreciate that, thanks," he said. Finding a good tattoo artist in town was always a good thing, and it helped that Lauren was friendly and didn't seem like she'd pull a disappearing act before he got his next tattoo, whenever that ended up being. Quentin had a really good vibe from the place so far, and seeing as he wasn't planning on moving back to Maine any time soon, he'd be back for his next piece of art. Lauren could be sure of it.
For the next few hours, they didn't talk much, but that was okay with Quentin. Lauren had a job to do and while it would have been nice to bring someone else along for the ride, he could settle being with his own thoughts for a bit. Naturally, given what the tattoo was, he eventually started thinking about Kevin. This might not be the stereotypical way to honor the dead, especially since only a few people he knew would recognize the boat in his tattoo, but Quentin knew why he'd gotten it. Kevin, if he was still around, would know too. That was all that mattered.
Getting up and resisting the urge to stretch just yet, not wanting to move the design too much, he took the mirror Lauren offered him. The colors looked better on his skin than he had on paper, and he smiled. "It's perfect," he said. Considering that he hadn't expected to walk in and get the tattoo finished today, he was thrilled. "You are seriously talented."
