We found our life's been changed Who: Aurora and Cheila, and their familiars (NPC) Where: Around the Elias home When: Afternoon
Once again when she had woken up it had been raining and Aurora had been delighted that it was continuing. The thought that maybe it was affecting people in a negative way, that there were people who did not like the rain, never occurred to her. All she could think of was how free she always felt when the storms came and stayed. It meant that she could be closer to her twin for a time - except that morning she had been requested. Alone. So she had dressed and left. By the time she was finished she settled on the balcony of their secondary room, chin on her knees while she let the rain fall down, soaking the lovely outfit she had only just remembered to pull back on before opening the doors. According to everyone there was no way anyone outside of the customers and other residents could see her from this window but apparently some of the staff got flustered when they saw any of them wandering around in any state of undress and so Aurora usually remembered to dress. It was a lot easier when she felt like her element was everywhere, the booms of thunder and supposed streaks of lightning in the sky mixing with the wind to make her almost feel like she was home again. Speaking of home...
'You're free the rest of the day,' Neveah reminded her as she perched on the nightstand, having flown in the moment that Aurora opened the door. The owl could get terribly upset when they were separated for certain things, which was something Aurora did not fully understand. This was what she did and it had been happening for longer than she had known her familiar so the owl - Aetheria said she was gorgeous shades of white, cream and gold and she had actually seen it in her mind a few times - should accept it like everyone else seemed to do. 'If you want to go play in the storm. It'll help.' What would it help? There was nothing wrong. She just needed the rain to wash her clean again and cleanse the two not-so-small puncture wounds on each side of her neck. Four in total. The left side was more recent and still throbbed but it should stop before too long. Had she not screamed then maybe he would have only bit once but really, it happened now and again. "I'd like to go out," Aurora agreed as she stood back up, searching around until she found the moccasins she had carried to replace her heels. But not just to play in the storm. If Aetheria was busy as she suspected her twin was then she wanted to see someone else. But no one in the building. Her mother, or maybe one of her sisters. That driver should remember how to get there.
Aurora was singing a quiet tune, the wind that sprung up to accompany her voice tugging at her damp hair and Neveah's wings inside of the car as it came to a stop. "Do you need any help to the door, Miss. Aurora?" The elemental denied the offer with a bright smile and a shake of her head - Neveah would tell her where to go in her twin's absence. Despite the wind the owl managed to fly out of the car, taking immediate shelter in the boughs of a nearby tree before telling Aurora how many steps to the door. Part of Aurora thought that maybe she should knock but another part said that was silly, they never knocked at home and the doors were never locked. That would mean they were trying to keep each other out and they never did that. Her fingers felt around the smooth material of the door and slid down until they grasped cool metal that twisted easily enough and admitted her into the house. "Hello?" she called as she shuffled in, drips of water falling from her hair and clothes. "Anyone home?" They had to be. She had not come all this way just to be alone in a place that did not quite manage to feel like home despite the very familiar smells of incense that had always clung to the temple and their rooms.
'Maybe no one's home?'
"Of course they are," Aurora murmured, fingers going out to trace along the wall as she continued down the hall, nearly stumbling into the living room where they had all gathered the previous week. A smile lit her face as she remembered that they had all been there. All of them. Except for father, but mother said he would be fine soon and mother had never lied to her. "Someone's home, Neveah. You should have come in with me."
