Cecil was beyond excited to hear that Uncle quentin had gotten him a gift. "You remembered!" The little tiger bounced a bit, turning to see his mother and smiled in her direction, "Mommy! Uncle Quentin got-"
"And it never occurred to you that maybe I want to be alone?" She ignored her son, instead opting to snap at her close friend. It didn't register in Jadyn's mind that moment that Quentin was actually concerned. If anything, this was a mere irritation and she wanted nothing to do with it. She didn't want him to know about the vampire attack or her suicide attempt. She didn't want to be a burden to anyone.
"Mommy, mommy," Cecil went running over to Jadyn, clinging onto her leg. "Can I open Uncle Quentin's pres-"
"NO."
Jadyn never wanted to snap at her child, knowing all the unpleasant memories it brought to her from her own childhood. Cecil didn't deserve this, so instead she clamped a hand over her mouth, instantly regretting her outburst of anger and shook her head. "Sweetie, can you go to your room for a while? You can open your present after." The little boy looked at his mother with wide, fearful eyes, cowering a bit as he skittered on off. Shaking, Jadyn ran a hand through her mess hair and reluctantly looked at Quentin, trying oh-so hard not to cry in front of him.
