The twins started fidgeting in the back as they sniffed the air and looked around for the new person in the car. Julian looked at them through the rearview mirror. "Shh, quiet down. It's just an animal that's been hurt by some humans," he told them, even if the smell of human was getting stronger by the second and the animal was fading away. Looking down quickly at his lap, however, the animal was not a were, that would have been obvious from the get-go. Driving with one hand on the steering wheel, he kept the other tucked against the small weasel relative on his lap to keep from jostling it. The drive back to his clinic was relatively slow considering it was time to go home for most people. Nevertheless, once they were in his parking spot, he curled his arm under the marten and tucked it against his chest while he opened the back for the girls. They promptly turned into wolves and Chloe bounded up his shoulder onto his head while Cleo was tucked under his free arm. Using legs to close the door as he was used to, he went into the office.
Dropping Cleo and Chloe off on his desk, where he was certain neither of them would stay for long, he placed the marten on his examination table. Pulling latex gloves on, he quickly found that the poor thing had dislocated its shoulder. The rest was quite quick. Pulling the leg in place, the click told him that it was set in place. Placing a bit of wood against it, he began wrapping the shoulder up and the whole ordeal was taken care of in under half an hour. It would need to be tagged and then kept in a cage until the bone was healed enough to remove the cast and return it to the wild. Pulling his gloves off to discard them, he gave the twins a warning look to behave before disappearing into a back room for supplies to detain the animal for a while.
