Politics was never Naoki's strength, but it was definitely his wife's. Regardless of the tension between the two behind closed doors, he was going to be there for Liliya, whether it was for public image or moral support or even a quick bite to eat in a broom closet. He didn't really care. Whatever Liliya needed, he was on it. He stayed seated in the front row - right next to Amanda Blake, and whoever made THAT seating arrangement needed to be shot - for the entire debate, then booked it backstage the second there was a break. The second he found Liliya, he pulled her into a loving embrace, kissed her forehead, and whispered into her ear, "You did fabulous. Keep it up, I know you can do it." Probably not the attention she wanted, but he wanted to do it. Naoki couldn't stomach ignoring her.
And then when it came back to questions from the crowd, Naoki took his seat, doing his best to ignore the vile woman to his side. Probably one of the few times he was thankful he was deaf. Though it did suck to have to turn and read people's lips whenever they asked questions, only managing to catch half of the questions. For the most part, he kept his eyes on Liliya, quietly cheering her on. It was the least he could do.
