Laurent's strain of romanticism was not likely to die anytime soon. It was just put on a version of hold while Rae got her head together. Because it was her head where the problems were, not his. He knew how to be faithful and not paranoid and not a million other things. Currently he fulfilled practically none of them but currently he was also not engaged or even committed to anything past a deal with his publisher about writing and Grayson about coming in to work every now and again. Past that? Nothing. Even if he thought about it a rather lot and never once got himself into an actual relationship - past Belle - since Rae. And Belle did not actually count so much since she had run off after one encounter with Rae - or had it been because he had stopped paying attention...?
"And then you have your little add-on who may or may not be from what is now called France." It was interesting how they had all ended up in the same city, but then Laurent saw a lot of that these days. Vampires turning up that he had not seen in decades or centuries and he was certain it was the same all over. Could Heme be blamed or something else? Not my concern. Nodding at Odette's suggestion he stood as well. It was a simple, harmless thing. He had done it when still connected to Rae, for example, and never once done anything that could be considered improper. Not even after Rae had left him because of what she thought he had done. "Beds are more comfortable than couches and meant for sleeping." He even had a bed for the purpose of comfort though he never had much of a use for it. Though first- "If Liev is staying with you, won't this be a slight uncomfortable when he returns? I wouldn't want to cause you trouble with him."
