He was a romantic...and, granted, so was she...but Odette was far from disillusioned. She knew the extent of her relationship with Liev and while she tested its boundaries to suit her own temper, she knew she wasn't going to ever be able to expect a ring and a promise of forever. And she wasn't sure she wanted it, even. Or...well, the sentiment would be appreciated but their tempers would quickly get the best of them. Not to mention Liev never asked questions he didn't already know the answer to and as Odette was certain he would know the answer was no, he would never ask. Even if the 'no' did come attached with something akin to love. Maybe. Odette wasn't sure anymore. She'd lived far too long and read too many books on the matter to know she'd never really quite felt anything like fireworks and springtime around any man.
"There is a fair number of us for all of us being so-called lone wolves," Odette smirked. "I suppose it's fair to call us a pack now, considering we do have an alpha, who sired a childe, who in turn sired a childe. We're a darling little family," Odette said with a small laugh. Especially considering she tried to keep both of them away from each other. It was...safer that way. For Edward. She didn't even have to pretend she was concerned about Liev in a confrontational situation. Liev was older and had received his own war wounds. Edward was...a pampered man-baby. "Perhaps a visit into familiar dreams will help," she said of his book and started to rise. "We could continue the conversation in my bedroom...I have never fallen asleep in a living room before," she added. It was a fair enough request and Laurent had spent enough time in her room without ever breaking his vows of fidelity to Rae. There was nothing improper about any of this.
