Laurent liked bottled blood. It had made his life so much less complicated. While he did not mind hunting and never had, killing people had never been something he was really a fan of. Mostly because he had done enough of that when he was still alive. Also because now it was quite literally against the rules to have anything but bottled blood or that given by a willing donor. Laurent did not even like taking into consideration what would happen if he broke the rule and someone else found out and told one of the elders. He liked having his fangs and what passed as his life, thank you, and losing them just because his appetite had gotten the better of him was not a pleasant idea. So he just followed the rules as they were made without complaining, knowing that it would do no good, letting the politicians do as they wished without putting his two cents in. He was a military man, not a politician after all, and unless actual war broke out he would stay out of it.
"I was here first so she followed me," Laurent pointed out, straightening a little at the sing-song tone of Odette's voice. This time he had come first and she had followed as happened time and time again, though he could not deny the knowledge that if Rae had moved then he would have gone as well. That was simply how they worked and trying to keep away from her altogether usually left him some sort of miserable. Though he could make note of how Odette once again had her sire and her fledgling in the same city as her... even if Rae was not connected with him in that way it was almost similar. If you discounted the fact that Liev did not pretend to hate her. "And it's not exactly an order, Duchess." He managed to make half a bow from where he was sitting, an apologetic look replacing the smile. "It just took me awhile to decide whether or not that was worthy of you so I'd like to see how well I chose."
