Run and tell all the angels, this could take all night
Who: Billie and Tessa (NPC)
When: Early morning
Where: Scarlet Oaks' skies~
The calm morning of Scarlet Oaks’ skies was the perfect scenario to have some flight training. Or at least, that was what Tessa had decided, pretty much hauling the sleeping teen out of her bed and throwing her from the edge of the penthouse. Alright, maybe she hadn’t done that, but Billie wasn’t sure her dear aunt wouldn’t go to those extremes if she had decided to skip the morning lesson. With all the current deaths and tensions between vampires and weres, it was more than obvious in Tessa’s mind that her protégé needed to know at least the basics of survival, and while that had offended Billie’s pride, she was right; chances were she wouldn’t last a minute against an hostile vampire, or were, or mermaid –although in the girl’s opinion, those were better than many, at times-, or siren or even a regular person with a grudge and something pointy and sharp made of silver.
The hawk’s claws closed in the air, missing the little bird by inches; said little bird might have been chirping all the curses she knew at that given time, but it was hard to tell, considering it was chirping. Describing a wide ark, the nightingale tried to put as much distance as she could from the big, scary bird, who had a harder time changing directions so suddenly; it was one of those few things that came in handy when you were a pitiful singing bird; you were built to run away, and Billie was becoming very good at that. Still, her aunt was something of a killing machine with wings, which meant that every time Tessa charged it was a near-miss. Billie didn’t like the near-misses, she was sure it wasn’t good for her tiny heart.
Once the hawk managed to bet behind the nightingale one more time, it was Billie’s turn to make it was hard as possible to get caught, which was certainly a hard task, considering that the bigger bird could fly fast enough to catch up with her in a matter of seconds. Scouting the surroundings, Billie noticed the buildings not so far from there, and could even make some people, cars and what not; one of the ‘Rules of Engagement’ her aunt had put was to stay as far as the ground as they could, since she didn’t want to get shot by someone that saw her chasing a little bird, something that had happened to her in the past, apparently. It was also the fact that if they made themselves known, there was the chance someone would find out what they actually were, and manage to spot them returning to the penthouse. That would be bad.
Still, Tessa hadn’t said a thing about flying around the buildings. With another sudden change of direction, the nightingale went down, and then to the right, disappearing behind a tall building for a moment; the hawk followed suit, and if Billie had taken the time to look back, she would have seen what would be the equivalent of a stern look on the hawk’s eyes. More stern than usual, if possible. What followed was a very interesting game of Air Tag, with the little bird darting from one building to the other, and the hawk trying to make a straight line, sometimes ending up too far from the prey, some others almost managing to get a hold of some nightingale feathers, which seriously freaked out said nightingale, by the way.
The little game of tag could have continued for a while, but after some time, and when the morning was starting to actually look less like late night and more like early day…morning, the larger bird made some completely and utterly scary sound and turned around; end of today’s practice, that was what it meant. The smaller bird spun around and flew next to the hawk, in which was surely a ridiculously odd figure, since one was at least three times bigger than the other one. A quick flight around the city to get rid of whoever might or might not have set their eyes on them and soon after the pair was gliding over the penthouse, the distance shortening quickly. One second, two birds seemed to be about to land, and the next, two blonde females were touching ground and rolling a bit due to the speed of the landing. Even if this was her aunt, and the one family she had seen all the time since she had moved to Scarlet Oaks, Billie still couldn’t deal with seeing Tessa naked, so she blindly made her way towards the large shirt she had been wearing before changing, and her underwear, making no attempt to see the other woman walk still stark naked into the penthouse, ignoring her clothes by the pool –because this was such a luxurious place it had a pool up there-.
Sighing, Billie picked up Tessa’s clothes, knowing the woman was already taking a shower or drinking a beer…or both. With a shudder, the girl just threw the clothes on a couch, and headed to her room. It was still ridiculously early, and she was going to fall asleep for a little longer; Tessa would get dressed –hopefully- and leave for work, biting a toast on her way out as she usually did. As for Billie…she would wake up later, check the calendar, and probably make a run for school. But for now, she was going to hit the sack and hope not to dream of being chased by giant mutant undead hawks; that was all she wanted.
