Her father had never been in the picture, and Jillian was fine with that. She hadn't wanted for love or attention or positive role models in her life, not by a long shot. Of course her father also had nothing to do with what she was, but Isaiah didn't know that, and that was a good thing. She'd gotten good at covering her tracks without having to outright lie too often; she didn't like deceiving people and so did it as little as possible while still keeping herself safe. That was especially important now that she could put a face to someone else who would be negatively affected if the existence of phoenixes came to light.
"Thanks," she replied, grinning at the compliment. Jillian was proud of her bird form, though it wasn't like she had a choice in the matter. Still, it was nice to get some credit for it from someone she hadn't known her entire life. "Very new," Jillian answered with a nod and a little laugh. "I've been in town for a whole two weeks."
