Chance nodded, ignoring the 'school' part. She was sixteen, if Chance remembered the application correctly. She could cover weekends once school started and then maybe Chance could take a weekend or two off so she could go and see Oz or go to the lake or do anything that a normal girl her age would be doing instead of working full- and overtime at a diner. Then again, she had probably asked for this, considering she dropped out of school. She had completely expected to help Aunt Sunny out with the diner but, apparently, she was supposed to earn a living, too. It made sense, Chance supposed, though if she'd heard Billie say she wanted to be like her, she'd have told the girl to stay in school and avoid moving several states away to chase after a girlhood dream. Not that Chance regretted it. She just didn't think anyone else could manage her life.
"It's fine," Chance lied easily. "Insect bites," she added with a nod. "And you can just give us a call at the diner and leave a message with the times you're available or shoot us an e-mail. I'll get back to you as quickly as I can. So...thanks for dropping your application off and I'll see you in a few days!" she added with a grin. Extending her hand for a handshake, Chance grinned at their newest server. Yay, I can finally take a day off.
