Calista blinked at the finger pointing in her direction, not sure where to start with answering Brodie. He knew what she was, but still, there was history with Emily and she wasn't sure she wanted to go into that history lesson for the night. And the hug was a bit unexpected, but very much welcomed. It meant that people didn't have to stare at Calista and wonder what the hell was up with her. Once she was lost in his arms, she nuzzled in a bit deeper into his shoulder and let the tears come freely. As much as she felt she was ruining the moment, she did need this. She could repay Brodie in more sweets if she had to.
"You really think so?" She asked, her voice muffled a bit being pressed up against him. Tilting her head up, her teary eyes glanced at him sheepishly, not wanting anyone to spot her like this. "All it takes is one person to say something to me and I just fall apart. I don't want to be dead weight on your shoulders. Or anyone's shoulders." She still hesitated with telling Brodie the whole story, though in the back of her mind, she pictured him taking a drum stick and poking her with it until she spilled the details. Something like that. It was an uplifting image, at least.
