Like his siblings, Liam was feeling lost at the sudden and hasty departure of their older brother. For as long as the youngest Byrne could remember, Dex had always been there and made it a point for them to stay together. This threw him then, Dex insisting he go alone and stay away for an undetermined amount of time, the words he threw out cut him deep but was never something he'd show. At the time, he merely nodded his head as the small part of Liam that was still a child, that looked up to his older brother, ached to follow.
Standing with his remaining brothers at the window, Liam watched Dex's car recede with a strange feeling in his chest, a constriction that tried to travel up his oesophagus.
Still staring out the window as Bonnie and then Ryan went and sat on the couch, Liam stared vacantly until Bonnie spoke. He turned slowly, shrugging in a manner that was decidedly sad. He honestly didn't know what to do, now that the presiding member of this family had left. Which is why Ryan took him by surprise and it never crossed Liam's mind that Ryan would be the one to take over in Dex's absence. There was a sense of dread that followed with the thought, while Liam loved Ryan, they didn't get along as swimmingly as he did with Dex.
Leaving the window, Liam sat beside his brother with boobs and decided to forlornly stare at the coffee table. He could worry and stress about Ryan being in charge when he was used to the idea that Dex was gone. Even the thought seemed foreign, sure Dex had 'gone' before but this thought had the stamp of uncertainty and permanence on it. Something that Liam couldn't process. "Of course." was all he mumbled in response.
