Live amongst the H2O Who: Charlene and Cloelia Where: Somewhere around the latter's cave When: Late morning
Charlene had a tomato.
After her date with Roxy the previous night the mermaid had decided that she was finally going to set about figuring out how the things worked. Supposedly they were a food but she was not actually sure that she believed that. They were covered by some weird sort of a skin and exploded when they were squeezed, for the love of everything nothing that she liked to eat did that. Granted her tastes were a lot different than humans - they had that fascination with burning everything after all - but she did not see how that would affect her view on this extremely odd, spherical round thing at all. They also grew on what she was going to assume were trees because the ones that she had purchased had been attached to a slightly green, dried up thing that looked like what she had seen curled around trees from time to time. Of course she had to buy at least eight of the things so that she could figure out how they worked, but first she was going to test out whether or not they really exploded when squeezed or if maybe that had just been the one...
Flipping her tail slightly to keep from being moved downstream by the current, Charlene plucked one of the tomatoes free and studied it for a moment before closing her fingers over it and squeezing. The smooth skin gave way far too easily and suddenly the water was filled with pale red, seeds and pulp whirling around before being caught and dragged downstream. Blinking, Charlene flicked the remnants of the thing off her fingers. "Huh," she mused as she reached over to take another one from where she had set them in the gnarled roots of a tree that had fallen some time ago. If it was food then that meant she should be able to eat it so... screwing up her face, the mermaid dug her teeth through the skin and chewed thoughtfully. It felt sort of like eating a oyster with more seeds. Except for the part where it tasted disgusting. "No, not food."
