This was definitely going to become a part of Charlene's daily wear, in and out of the water, because Roxy had gotten it for her. Well and it was pretty and the mermaid did have a liking for pretty things. In fact... while Roxy was setting up the movie, the mermaid undid the clasp and fastened it about her neck, already liking the way it felt and unable to keep from playing with it for awhile. Though when Roxy returned she let go to snuggle into her, eyes on the screen - still fascinated that it could show movies just like that giant one at the drive-in - while she ignored the plate of food. She appreciated the gesture but it was going to take her awhile to try the burned stuff.
'Not forever, but long enough.' Normally days were just some sort of a blink, time that went by while Charlene absorbed herself in this or that, but ever since meeting Roxy they had seemed to drag when she was not around. It was very, very odd for someone who had never had a problem with how she lived her life and the way time went before. Smiling, she nuzzled into Roxy's neck for a moment, breathing in the scent that was uniquely her before lifting her eyes back up. 'Have you been okay? No bad things happening? I've missed you - why are there humans?'
That question was directed at the movie, which Charlene was now regarding with a sort of scowl because those were definitely not mermaids or even mermen. They were on what was clearly a boat - a fishing boat!!!! - and they were talking! Everyone knew that merfolk could not talk when they were in their other form. 'Roxy, this isn't... oh, better.' That was a mermaid, even if she was lacking gills and claws and a tint to her skin, not to mention those ridiculous shells over her chest. 'Those look so silly! It'd be so hard to find shells that big.' She was not going to spend the entire movie picking things apart, oh no, not at all.
