It's just like the movies Who: Alanna Where: Her apartment When: Noonish
Licking her lips nervously, Alanna eyed the door in front of her like at any moment it might shift into something terrifying and attack. A bead of sweat rolled down the side of her face as her hands clenched and unclenched weakly. It's just a door. She tried telling herself. A door she has gone in and out of countless times without ever once arguing the matter of whether or not she should. Because it was not like she really had that much of a choice, she had to go to work. If she kept calling off then she was going to lose her internship. All she had to do was open the door and go outside like she had always done. Even when there had been demons in the world killing people she had been able to go out to find somewhere safer. But now? Captive of her own fears given life.
Snakes. Zach who had a fascination with her that she could not understand and had found out where she lived even though she had most definitely not told him. And he had that strange thing he did with his eyes that she could no understand. A way of making her freeze in place while her nerves vanished and she was left in an almost hypnotic state of calm. Then, possibly worse than Zach, there was Aurelia and that snake was in the building because she owned the thing. Just thinking of the woman caused Alanna to whimper and sit back down on the couch. To say that she had been traumatized by the meeting would have been a gross understatement since it had ended with her passed out on the floor.
Those seemed like two very good reasons to just stay inside forever.
"If I wasn't alone... If I told someone." Roxy would probably go and try to beat both of them down. And get bitten by Aurelia and then I'd be responsible and oh god I would feel terrible forever about something like that! I can't tell Roxy! Which meant she was going to have to hope that her impromptu roommate thought there was a really simple reason behind the nightmares that made her scream out. Or why she appeared to not be leaving the house for a run or work or anything. But who did that leave? Aaron was gone, Fortun was busy with his business or something like that, Adelle was the size of a toothpick and probably easier to break... And the police? Right, Alanna was totally going to call and report creepy snakes when that would only serve to make weres look worse. After the past few days they so did not need her adding onto the problem.
Sighing, Alanna pressed her hands against her temples and did her best to not scream in frustration. If only she were not so damned afraid and if only she had a reason to believe that she could just not worry. But no, there was an extremely uneasy feeling in her stomach that she did not trust. "You should be like a tiger or something big and fierce," Alanna informed Callalily in a serious voice. "Then I could take you out and you could eat Aurelia up in like four bites." Maybe it would take longer because that had been a Really Big Snake. "Maybe I just need to have bigger friends who don't change into penguins and chipmunks and... Wolves!"
Brightening at the sudden revelation the redhead reached for her cell just as it went off with a text from, go figure, Kiley. But all of the worries vanished right out of her mind when her friend told her what had happened. What were snake scares when one of her best friends was hurting? Pushing all her worries out of her mind, Alanna concentrated on that for awhile until the subject somehow twisted around.
Groaning, Alanna tossed her phone aside and brought her hands up to cover her face. How many sorts of pathetic was she? Going and asking Kiley to come and get her so that she could make sure the snakes were not around. Or at least would not go and make her life hell. Why did they have to come around right after Aaron left? Huh? Do they like, have super sense that help them detect distress and then they feed off it? For whatever reason that would not surprise her.
Peeking over the tops of her hands she saw that Callalily had hopped up and settled on top of her feet with a content purr before regarding her. "Fine, we can watch Animal Planet again." Reaching for the remote she shook it at the cat, able to completely forget right then that she was supposed to be somewhere else doing something else entirely. The cat was really good at that. "But if it's another tiger special then I'm changing it."
