Locke smiled upon hearing that she was cool with him joining her. Like his boss was actually going to care. Maybe he could call this his break and all would be well. And if she needed help with the bookstore, he could give her a hand. Who was even working in there today? Was Harley on? Oh good god, we'd need a super soaker to keep that guy away from poor Eva... Ok, maybe the bookstore wasn't that great of an idea...
After giving Eva her drink and coffee cake, Locke eased back into his seat and sipped on his latte. Part of him wanted to pipe up and say he was happy to go to the festival with her, but he didn't want to be too pushy. He wanted to go, too, but didn't really have much when it came to friends who would go with him. Sometimes Locke liked it better that way. It kept people out of his life and kept them safe. Then again, maybe Bunny would drag him out of the house and make him go. And the mention of movies actually perked up his attention even more. Wow, Locke actually remembered when movies came into existence and how much of a big deal it was back then. If Eva was a film student, then she had to be well-versed in film history. Maybe he finally found someone who would mind watching the classics with him.
"Film? Really? That's awesome! I hope that works out well for you." Probably not the easiest industry to break into, but if she was that passionate about it, she could make it happen. "At least you know what to do with your life, you know? I'm still not sure what I want to do with college." And in truth, he wasn't sure if he had the will to live long enough to see that day. Depressing, yes, but it was how Locke felt.
