Thanks for the memories
Who: Roxy
Where: Alanna's apartment at The Court
When: Afternoon
No one was in high spirits at work. Then again, who ever was when someone died in town? One of the teens back from the kidnaps had been murdered recently and while Roxy didn't know the girl directly, she did work hard with her coworkers to help out with the emergency call when the teens were discovered. It was so rewarding to help out with some major like that, and to have one of them die just made her heart sink. So young and so much to look forward to. Now it was all gone. Marcus didn't even bother arguing with Roxy when she changed the radio station on him in the ambulance. Overall, a truly crappy day to work and she was relieved to finally head on home.
Except she didn't go home. No, she went to Alanna's place. Over a week and Roxy still had to correct herself whenever she drove back from the hospital. Usually involved slamming on the brakes halfway down the road to her parents' place, then turning right back around to head to The Court. It was heart-breaking to know she couldn't drive back there. Hell, would she ever be able to go back? The only person she talked to since she left was Kat and the tiny penguin was persistent on getting Roxy back home somehow. Sadly, Roxy figured it would take more than Kat whining and screaming to bring her big sister back.
And as much of an angel Alanna was to let Roxy stay at her place, it wasn't home. It wasn't her family. It wasn't her colony. It wasn't where she belonged. She felt that same sensation each time she let herself in - a sense of not belonging there. But where did Roxy belong if her parents kicked her out for loving a woman? Standing in the doorway, she looked over the apartment, greeted by the soft mew from Callalily. How the hell Alanna agreed to taking in a cat that was bigger than her in were-form was beyond her, but at least she kept good company. "Hey girl, what's up?" Roxy spoke weakly to the cat while closing the door behind her, dropping her bag on the couch before crashing on it. She didn't hear Alanna anywhere in the apartment and figured she was out somewhere doing something. At least she's out of the house. Roxy on the other hand hated being lonely. It made the girl far too anxious and even Callalily jumping up on the couch with her freaked the shit out of the pink-haired girl.
Pulling out her phone, she scrolled through the names on her contact list to see who she could chat with, possibly even hang out with. Eventually, she scrolled by Fina's name and her face lit up. It had felt like forever since she talked to the redhead! Then again, she was so busy with her band and Rigby. Oh god, fucking Rigby. Jace was just warm-up in comparison to what she wanted to do to that guy. She didn't care if her friend was head over heels for him, but what she did care about was the fact he broke her friend's heart multiple times and that was worthy enough to fuck up his car to ensure he wouldn't leave her anytime soon. Doesn't Fina live in The Court? Holy crap! We can totally hang out! And as much as she wanted to run down the hallway to to find her, she figured it was best to give her a call first.
First she called her cellphone and only got her voicemail. Pouting, she then tried calling her house's number, only to get an apology from a robot that the number didn't exist. "...the hell?" Then she proceeded to call her friend's workplace at the radio, only to be informed by the fire girl's boss that Fina wasn't there anymore. Apparently she had been offered an amazing deal with her band out in LA and thus picked everything up and left as soon as possible.
Roxy supported Fina's musical dreams, she really did. She attended each and every one of her concerts out in California and made sure to have a unique fan sign for each one. Even when she was accepted to play at the benefit concert, Roxy was there to cheer her on and watch her rock out. Outside of music, Roxy did her best to be there for the girl. She supported her when Rigby left her back in LA and supported her when he left again after the demon attack. She even called the girl multiple times after that to make sure she didn't kill herself over him. Not once did Roxy ever ask for anything in return - just her friendship. And Fina was one of her best friends. A kindred soul to her. They both loved the same music and had the same need for adrenaline. Hell, they met on a sky diving trip sponsored by UCLA and had a blast. There was never a dull moment with Roxy and Fina. Never. Her family even considered the redhead family and were always asking about her whenever they could. And Roxy always kept them up to date with a massive smile on her face.
And now she was gone without telling her best friend in the world a single fucking thing.
Roxy refused to cry. No, Fina wasn't worthy of such tears from the penguin girl. Her worry and concern quickly morphed into sheer hatred and fury. All the times Roxy was there for Fina, all the times she cheered her on, all the times she laughed with the girl... and this was what she got. No good-byes. No fairwells. No 'hey, wish me luck, Rox!' No tear-filled hugs. No promises of meeting up. Nothing. All she got was a dry reply from her former boss that the fire elemental was gone to get her dreams. Apparently her dreams of being a rockstar blinded her enough to forget about what really mattered - her friends.
Clutching her cellphone, Roxy let out a vicious, feral cry before whipping her cell across the room and watched it shatter against the wall. Even Callalily jumped and hid at the wrath that was Roxy. "YOU FUCKING BITCH. YOU FUCKING, SELFISH, WHINY, HELPLESS, PATHETIC LITTLE BITCH." Jumping from the couch, she promptly knocked the coffee table over, letting the various objects propped on it fall and crash into the floor. "Everything we've been through together! All the laughs we had! All the tears we shared! DID THAT NOT MEAN A FUCKING THING TO YOU?! Was I just your fucking safety blanket when your boy toy wasn't around to fuck you senseless?! Or when you failed to do anything useful on the west coast?! And now that you actually get to do something fucking useful for ONCE IN YOUR PATHETIC LIFE, you just forget about me and move the fuck on?!"
Roxy dropped to her knees while shaking her head, blinking her eyes rapidly to hold the tears back. "YOU WORTHLESS BITCH! I hope you get famous and blow all your money on cheap vodka and cocaine, because by then you won't have any true friends to be there for you! All that you care about is pleasing your-fucking-self! Shit, I hope that Rigby guy is smart enough to move on and hook up with someone better than you! I hope you regret all this shit and cry yourself to sleep EVERY FUCKING NIGHT."
Silence fell around Roxy as her lower lips trembled at a single thought. Fina had something Roxy didn't have. She belonged in the music industry, regardless of how much Roxy wished hell and more on the girl that very moment. She belonged on the stage, shining in the spotlight. And Roxy? She didn't have anywhere she belonged. She was just a lonely, little penguin without any sense of belonging anywhere. Hell, she didn't even know where to start with that.
And it was that very thought that made Roxy collapse into hysterical tears. Tears that she refused to let the world to see. Tears that she didn't want to cry for Fina. But they weren't for Fina - they were for herself.
