I will lift you off your feet
Who: Bradley and Linnea
Where: It's a surprise!
When: Evening
Normally her birthday was a quiet thing remembered by her children, accompanied by little gifts and a meal with maybe a few calls from Finland or something from her friends. Never was it remembered by Jokull or any of the various ones she had spent time with to keep her mind off of her marriage. Today had, so far, been no different. Satu and Valterri had woken her with breakfast in bed and she had spent the rest of the day around the house with her children. Even Dagmar had come out of her room for a swim at the river and a few movies. There had been a few odd instances that made no sense - like a vase flying across the room and shatting - but for the most part Linnea had been amazingly content with the day. It felt like all o her birthday's should have, like they might have if Jokull had never been there. Without him I wouldn't have Dagmar or Satu. Leif she left out, forgot almost, but she did have to thank Jokull for giving her her daughters.
As much as she wanted to stay at home with her children for the rest of the evening if only because it was so nice to do so without ever fearing that Jokull would walk in and ruin it all, Linnea had excused herself from their company to get ready for a little date she had not fully expected. She had not told them that she was going on a date because really, Jokull had not been dead for long and that sort of thing would likely only serve to upset them more - the last thing she wanted with Dagmar's emotional state hanging in such a delicate balance these days - but she had let them know that she was going out with a friend to celebrate. Not that forty-five was something she felt a pressing need to celebrate. Bradley apparently thought otherwise and the water elemental could not even think of turning him down. Just the thought of him showing up and doing something with her for her birthday sent her heart racing. Like a teenager. In fact she was standing at the mirror in the entryway rearranging her shirt for what had to be at least the thirteenth time as the time for Bradley's arrival drew near. Nervous at that, but I've the right to be! I've never been taken out for my birthday before. Dipping her feet in a pool of water sounded like a lovely way to ease her nerves but that would mean removing her heels and the last thing she wanted was to make Bradley wait. That meant more time in which one of the children could peek in and see who was there. No, no that was to be avoided at all costs for a time.
Toying with one of her earrings, Linnea allowed herself a giddy smile, hoping to get those far-too-teenage reactions out of her system before Bradley arrived.
