Haven't you hard the news?
Who: Kajsa and Linnea
Where: Hospital
When: Morning
Demons were rampaging again. Still. Most mothers would have shot themselves before they left their children, no matter how old, unattended and went off on their own. But Linnea had special circumstances - her husband had died and she needed to make arrangements. Life and the consequences of death did not come grinding to a halt just because the world was, according to the religious fanatics, coming to an end. Plus her daughters happened to have an advantage on their side that the majority of the world, thankfully, did not. Dagmar and Satu were demonic blooded themselves and that meant that the demons would not touch them. Influence them? Very possible with someone like Satu but Linnea hoped that her youngest would do as she had told them and just stay home. Then they could find the letter that she had left explaining their father's death. She had figured it would be easier for them - and yes, her - that way.
But since she was already out, Linnea decided to go to the hospital. It was a flurry of activity and she knew that Kajsa must be miserable for it, being unable to go anywhere or do anything and probably ending up with more roommates than she ever needed. Slipping past the front desk, Linnea heels clicked as she made her way down the hall to the appropriate room. Poking her head into the room she was not surprised to find that Kajsa was not alone. Too bad but with all of the demons running around injuring people it was just how things were. "Kajsa?" she asked, stepping up beside the bed. "Are you awake?"
Fuckin' demons! They were totally fucking up her day, what with all the randoms being shuffled in and out of her room. She was stuck with only one roommate at the moment, but said woman was moaning in pain and wouldn't shut the hell up. It was grating on Kajsa's last nerve. So it was a very welcome distraction when her mom stopped by. "Mom!" She grinned over at her mom and craned her neck to look behind her to see if her sisters had come with. Thankfully she didn't see anyone else. "Come on in. I missed you!" She held her arm out for a hug before noticing the slightly stressed look on her face. "Are you okay?" Kajsa's voice was still slurred but not as bad as the other day that they were there.
Linnea leaned in for the hug easily, smoothing out her face when she realized that it must have looked stressed if Kajsa was asking. Not that she really should be stressed when it came to all of this because Jokull was gone and the blame was not going to fall on Nikita or herself. The vampire was a professional with more things at her disposal than Linnea could ever dream of. Why should she have a reason to worry? Oh right, Dagmar and Satu. The two had not taken the news about what ran in their veins very well and that was not something that a mother could just shrug off. Knowing that two - three - of her children had that in them... a slight shudder ran down her spine but she dismissed it as she hugged Kajsa before sitting on the edge of the bed. It was easy for her to ignore the moans of the other woman for the simple reason of she had no idea who it was and therefore she did not care. "I've missed you as well," the elemental remarked as she smoothed out the blankets. "And of course I'm fine. I have some news for you, hopefully you haven't already heard. Your father-" not her father, her blood is clean just like mine "-was killed yesterday. The police suspect his assistant for some reason they can't yet determine. I'm going to make all of the necessary arrangements today though it may be awhile before the funeral can take place with all of these attacks going on." Worth just that much more of a wait to finally, finally be rid of him.
Kajsa braced herself for whatever news her mother was about to reveal. As soon as the words 'your father' crossed Linnea's lips, Kajsa's mouth turned up with disgust. He wasn't her father and- "What? Killed? REALLY?" Kajsa fought against it, but she couldn't stop the grin that spread across her face. "He's dead? Jokull is dead?" This was almost too good to be true. She was going to have to send his assistant a fruit basket, she really was. Ignoring her injuries, Kajsa leaned forward and gave her mother a big hug. "You're finally free of him!" she whispered in her ear. At that, the thought of how Linnea's life would change for the better, is what brought Kajsa to tears. She buried her face in Linnea's neck and sniffled, completely overjoyed for her mother.
Now Linnea had not expected that. What was with her daughters giving her all sorts of unexpected responses these past few days? It was almost like they had gone and planned it out and that was a touch disturbing. "Kajsa, calm down," she instructed even as she hugged her back. It was nice to have Kajsa able to do that. Or at least trying to because really, she should not be straining herself so with all of her injuries. "And... try not to sound so happy." There was a reason why Linnea had always done her best to keep her true opinion of her husband to herself. As much as was possible. She knew that her children had at least an idea of what it was really like but she had never expected any of them to be so delighted and go on about her freedom. "It's true, I got the call from the police last night when I was at home. If you're out of the hospital you're coming to the funeral... and you'll at least pretend to be sad. You know how important images are, dear." Linnea had cried her tears last night, it was hard for any to come to her at that precise moment in time. Maybe later she would be able to summon some up again.
And that was her mother, always concerned with appearances. She could give two shits if she appeared sad enough at her father's funeral. Anyone who knew her, knew that she hated Jokull and was very glad that he wasn't her biological father. But still, the need to be a good obedient daughter won out over any happiness she felt. "Sorry. And of course I'll cry and be appropriately sad at the funeral. Promise." She sat back with a wince, sorry now that she'd strained herself with hugging Linnea. "Have you told the rest of the family? How are they?" She figured the news would be hard for some of her siblings, especially those that associated closely with Jokull. Pity.
Shrugging, Linnea reached out to rearrange the golden locks of her oldest daughter's hair, fixing pieces that were out of place. "Good, that's how it should be." Kajsa could feel however she wished about the passing of Jokull - Linnea would be a hypocrite if she said or believed otherwise since it was her own doing that had him dead - but what she showed was another matter entirely. One that needed to be watched and controlled or else it could be dangerous. Rumors after a death could be very, very troublesome, even if it seemed as though the cause were good. "They are... varied." Valterri was honestly distraught over the death and one could never tell with Dagmar. Satu could not seem to make up her mind, but oh well, they would. And they would all be so much better with him gone than if he had been allowed to come back into their home.
"Everything will be fine."
