You have been weighed, you have been measured
Who: Arich (NPC), Jokull and Nikita
Where: Detroit - Jokull's office
When: Morning
Warning: Torture, violence, character death

After that most successful discussion with Linnea the previous night, Jokull was in one of those moods that put everyone on edge. Not because they thought that he was going to snap one of their necks off or anything. It was more the fact that he was actually smiling and going about his business with a generally pleasant demeanor. Why shouldn't he? He was going to go back to live with his family! And no, he wasn't being sentimental about it. Living closer to Linnea and their daughters meant a better supply to their blood that was so prized, perhaps even access to Satu's again. Not to mention the breaking of Valterri. That boy was so close to getting the hang of blood magic and Jokull was sure that with a few more lessons he'd finally be able to get a spell right.

That'd just kill Linnea. You do all these things to spite her, came Arich's dry voice. And yet you never actually come up with one to kill her. It'd make life easier, I keep trying to tell you.

"And I keep telling you that it's more fun to annoy her. A dead person can't provide near as much entertainment as a live one." That and with her alive there was no need for him to go about pretending to be courting anyone. She served her purpose at the balls and various parties that people in his company threw. Really though, her value shone through with the vampires and blood witches he dealt with because a lot of them had become quite accustomed to her blood. Which Arich countered by pointing out Dagmar, which was countered again because Dagmar's blood was also demonic. A little circle that he knew how to walk. Linna had to stay alive for all the benefits she brought.

There was one good thing about office buildings, and that was they were considered public spaces and not a personal home. Nikita didn't require permission to enter the building, which worked perfectly for her. Not so much for Jokull, but he didn't know she was coming. Hell, he was probably clueless about the rendezvous she had with his wife and their little agreement. Linnea was more than willing to do anything for the vampire simply to have Jokull out of her life. True, it had been a while since Nikita did the job of killing herself, she was more more than glad to freshen up on her skills with a man she had been wanting to strangled for what felt like ages.

However, the bad thing was that this had to be done first thing in the morning. No vampire enjoyed going out into the sunlight unless their life depended on it. This, however, was worth it. It was worth that moment she had to be out in the open simply so she could hunt down Jokull and finish him off. And hunting him down wasn't that difficult either. She knew where the snake hid, predominately in his office in Detroit. A bit of a trek for Nikita, but she wasn't the one driving the Jaguar and left that up to her chauffeur.

"You sure you don't want me to come in with you, boss?" The grunt looked over his shoulder and eyed the business woman while they pulled on up to the building.

"No," Nikita replied, adjusting the sunglasses on her face before grabbing her Coach bag. "I'll be out in an hour tops. Just park down several blocks. I'll call you when I'm done." And with that she slipped on out, donning her best black suit and made her way to the front door.

Except no one saw her reaching the door and no one greeted her when she walked on by the front desk. Nikita was no stranger to using illusions and promptly fooled the eyes and ears of those around her. To them, the vampire never walked through the front door and her heels never clicked against the tile. The elevator also didn't chime when Nikita came towards it, taking it up to the floor she knew Jokull would be on. It had been a while since Nikita had abused her powers, and knew she would pay for it come the next morning, but it was worth it to cover up her trails.

Upon reaching her destination, she slipped out from the elevator, walking by several ladies who were discussing paperwork, also oblivious to the vampire that was storming by them, though Nikita took a second to slow down and listened to how the ladies talked. She was going to need that bit of information in a second. After a few more twists and turns, she came to the end of the hallway, where the door read Jokull's name. She thought she heard him talking to someone on the other side, and waited a moment to see if he continued. When she was greeted with silence, Nikita simply grinned and knocked lightly on the door.

"Mr. Niemi?" Her voice mimicked that one girl she walked by perfectly. No one would ever know unless they knew how Nikita typically sounded. "Do you have a moment? There's some paperwork I need to run by you." Except she didn't have any paper work for the man. She did, however, have a desert eagle that she was slipping out from her Coach bag, loaded with bullets blessed with holy water. True, she had shaky hands, and was evident while she cocked the gun and took aim at the door, but it was hard to miss a fucker like Jokull when he was in point blank range.

Had Arich been a better familiar, more like the dog that Jokull would've preferred, then he would've been able to point out that the scent emanating for the door was not like that of any of his secretaries. Far too cold and dead. But no, Arich was just a spider and needed to rely on senses other than scent and so Jokull had no reason but to just call out a simple, "Come in then." Even reaching out with his thoughts to see who it was never occurred to him. Why should it? Jokull was very rarely threatened by anything, much less something that could actually pose a real danger to him.

Is this all we're going to do today, be bored?

Jokull stroked one finger down his familiar's back. No no, he assured him. The girls always got jumpy when he talked out loud to the spider. We're going to go back to Scarlet Oak and that's never boring now is it?

Nikita couldn't help but grin like an idiot when she heard Jokull offer her to come on in. Oh, that could clearly be arranged and he wasn't going to like it one bit. With her vampire speed backing her up, she swiftly opened the door, slipped inside, and closed it behind her. He was right there at his desk, completely oblivious from the looks of it. This couldn't have gotten any easier in Nikita's eyes. And he was still in close enough range to hit him, and she planned on doing just that.

"Good morning, Jokull," she spoke calmly with a wicked look in her turquoise eyes. Nikita aimed the gun at Jokull and pulled the trigger back, making sure to mask the sound of it along with any cries of agony the wuss would want to yell out. They didn't need any unexpected guests now. She didn't plan to kill him with the gun, but she did want to put him through some pain, and last time she checked a bullet to the shoulder did just that.

Oh now that wasn't who Jokull expected to see come waltzing through the door. "Nikita," Jokull returned, already trying to reach out for her thoughts. But before he came anywhere near them there was a ripping, tearing pain in his shoulder and he cried out, hand going up to clutch his shoulder as blood blossomed out. It was staining his jacket and Arich skittered off and under the desk, cowering like the spider that he was. Jokull gritted his teeth together and somehow forced his eyes open to find Nikita looking at him, gun still in hand.

"Pleasant to see you too," Jokull remarked. Perhaps he should have been afraid because clearly Nikita had a problem with him and just as clearly she was working on taking care of it. His own mind was whirling through a multitude of spells that he could use. He was, after all, a blood witch and his blood was coating his fingers. Perhaps something with fire. See if Nikita ever came marching into his office firing like that again. "What the hell do you think that you're doing?"

Burns, don't it, bitch? was all that came from her mind, quite aware of the fact that Jokull could hear her thoughts loud and clear. Just like how she was aware that he was a blood witch and could quickly use the blood that was trickling out of his body against Nikita in a heart beat. She didn't plan on that happening anytime soon, hence why she fired a couple more rounds at him, one bullet missing completely and hit the wall while the other sunk home into his hand. Trigger happy bitch was bouncing off the walls happy at the moment and nothing was going to slow her down.

"Oh, that wasn't evident?" She fluttered her eyes, giving him a wide eyed look before smirking, showing off her lovely fangs and all. "I do believe you owe me a considerable amount of money from the years we've been in business together and while your wife is a lovely payment and all, I can't use her to pay for whatever supplies I need. Oh, and speaking of your wife," Nikita several steps towards him until she was stand right before his desk, gun inches away from his head, "we had a lovely chit-chat the other night. Discussed how much of a rotten pig you were and how you're better off dead. I thought she was joking at first, being high off her rocker and all, but..." She cocked the gun back, keeping her finger on the trigger, regardless of the fact her hand was shaking. "Seeing that she was so willing to pay off your debt in exchange for getting rid of you, I simply couldn't pass it up." That and it was hard to say no to a drop dead gorgeous, naked water elemental. That just didn't happen.

God, Jokull hated women. His father had been right and there weren't anything but trouble. Backstabbers and whores the lot of them and this one was such a good example. His hand burned and Jokull hissed in pain. The thoughts whirling through Nikita's head didn't help that much. But she wasn't the one that was the problem. She was just the muscles behind the problem and the problem? Seemed to be the one place he thought he'd had completely under control wasn't quite that. You were right, father. Perhaps he should have followed in his footsteps a little more closely and this wouldn't be happening.

"Linnea," he repeated. She was going to have to pay for this little act of insubordination. Because no, Jokull wasn't worried for even a moment that he was in any sort of real danger. It was just Nikita and she had just shot him twice and now had a gun all but pressed to his head. "I'll be sure to have a little chat with her about this and you'd do well to get that gun out of my face and start talking reasonable. I can pay you more than she can." Well, maybe not technically since if he died Linnea'd have access to everything but still, Nikita was a businesswoman and it was worth a shot. He was already shifting through her mind, searching for something to use while he mentally prepared the spell he wanted to use on her when he could focus better.

Upon hearing Jokull's words, Nikita just laughed. Oh, this was rich. He was trying to strike up a deal with her now? Someone was a bit too late on that offer. Shaking her head, Nikita continued to giggle in her own morbid amusement. "You know, as enticing as that sounds, because it really is, I'm going to have to stick to your wife's offer. Can't say no to a lady who wants me to kill her pathetic pig of a husband." And it helped that Nikita couldn't stand men. They were completely worthless and simply cluttered up the space with their existence.

And while she could have shot him right then and there, she opted not to. Not yet. She had been wanting to put Jokull through his own personal hell for ages. And now was the only time to do just that. Taking a step back, she lowered the gun and focused. Roses could do far more than visual and audio illusions if they focused on it, such as sensational illusions. It had been a long while since she used it on someone to torture them, and seeing that Jokull was neither fae-blooded or a vampire, he was going to get a crash course in what a Rose was capable of. Still smirking at him, she concentrated on the illusion, surrounding him with various pains: burning, stabbing, punching, choking, and more. He was fine in reality, but making sure he felt them was all that mattered. Besides, it was always fun to see how victims reacted to them.

That, when the pain started, was the first moment that Jokull began to honestly worry. He couldn't see a glimmer of hope for Nikita coming over to his side of the deal anywhere in that head of hers because all that was there was a desire to cause him pain. And oh was she. Jokull choked back a scream as he slid out of his chair and onto the floor, hands pressed flat against the floor while beads of sweat dripped off, mingling with the blood that was already there.

Jokull! Arich's dry voice was filled with fear and that made it worse. Jokull didn't want to hear his familiar being afraid. Even if he was about to die. He could skitter off and find Leif or something, let him know that this wasn't an accident, that he'd been murdered by Nikita and that Linnea had been behind it.

Do that, leave, go tell Leif, Jokull thought as he gasped for air. There was no more blood coming but he couldn't focus through the haze of pain that was coming from who knew where. It felt like a spell almost. But vampire couldn't cast spells! "What... what're you doing?" He still managed to get a commanding tone in there someone, his demonic side not allowing him to just curl in on himself and give up. Arich was skittering off to the side of the room and under a dresser.

Nikita was a relentless, vindictive bitch. Cross her once and she never changed her mind again. Made it difficult for some business transactions, but she figured if they pissed her off to begin with, then they were never worth her time anyways. She had been waiting for this moment with Jokull and finally had it. No amount of money or power or blood or anything could change her mind now. He was going to die because of her and he had no say in the matter.

"Rather obvious, isn't it?" She quirked up an eyebrow while watching him suffer. "Putting you through hell. Too bad I don't carry a camera on me, because this would make quite the-" And that's when she saw it. A spider had crawled frantically across the room as if in fear of what was going on. Except this wasn't any old spider - it was Jokull's. Oh, she remembered that vile beast any day. Nikita wasn't stupid, she knew the worthless creature was trying to escape and probably do something to save his master. No, she couldn't let this happen. None of this was to leave that very room. No one was to know of this! She wouldn't let a fucking spider mess with her plan.

Nikita had to make the decision rather quickly, whether or not to stop the illusion to catch the bug or keep her focus on the illusion to watch Jokull suffer further. Grinding her teeth together, she growled and turned away from Jokull, the illusion instantly dropping as she brought her full concentration on the bug. Lifting up her gun, she fired several rounds, completely missing and lodging bullets into the floor and dresser. Did this thing honestly think it could hide from a vampire? Really? A dresser was the least of her worries, and once she marched on over to the object, she knocked it out of the way with sheer ease due to her supernatural strength. "Now what do we have here?" Nikita growled as she eyed the spider and pointed her shaking gun right at it.

Hell. Yes, this had to be what hell was because nothing could be worse than this. Jokull was certain that if anything had ever been worse for this than anyone then they would've died on the spot. This was a man who was used to causing pain in others, not having it inflicted on him. Not even a little bit. Though a little corner of his mind piped up that if this was what Linnea'd gone through during their marriage than good. Good, she deserved every bit of it and - oh god, the pain was gone.

Jokull drew in a ragged breath until he heard gunshots and had his familiar's frantic thoughts streamed directly into his brain. Eyes wide he looked up to find Nikita pointing a gun right at Arich. His throat clenched because he knew that if anything happened to the spider then he was dead. "Get away from him." Why wasn't he coming up with any spells to cast? The pain he'd gone through, the blood loss and the fear was combining to block his mind up.

You don't have to shoot me, Arich informed Nikita. Then, the spider skittered off towards the door. Standing there wasn't doing him any sort of good and at least he could try to get away. Getting shot by a vampire wasn't something that the spider wanted to happen.

Wow, did Jokull honestly think she would listen to him now? Nikita was going to do whatever she damn well pleased at that point. If it involved shooting at his pathetic familiar, then so be it. He was in no position to be telling her what to do. Even Arich was being a massive pussy at this point. How fitting it was to have a coward familiar for the coward master. Then again, Nikita wasn't complaining with the lack of struggle Jokull was emitting. This just made her job easier.

"No, I don't have to shoot," she spat coldly at the creature, hastily following him as he tried to book it to the door. "Probably far more efficient and amusing to do this." Without a second of hesitation, she lifted her foot up and slammed it to the ground, making sure to stomp down on Arich. Her hands might have been shaky and never precise, but her feet? She had that covered. And what a better way to kill a pesky spider than to squish it. Such a waste of bullets, anyways, even if it was her preferred method. Nikita even wiggled her foot around to make sure the damn vermin was dead for good, and the crunching sound beneath her shoe was reassuring enough.

"No, don't!" Jokull shouted, trying to push himself up to stop Nikita. Arich let out a little scream as Nikita's boot came down and ended his rather short life, for a familiar at least. He had thought that there had been pain before, but what exploded through him now put what Nikita had done to shame. Jokull's fingers tore at his chest as he full out screamed before collapsing, entire body convulsing as the life drained out of his body.

The last thing that he remembered thinking before everything just stopped was that it was all Linnea's fault and his father had been right; they weren't to be trusted and he should have followed his example and killed her.

Before she had him.

Nikita wasn't sure which was more delightful to her ears: the spider crunching beneath her or Jokull shrieking out like a pansy little girl. She had forgotten for a moment that familiars were linked up to their masters in a way that if they died, so did the other. "How appropriate," Nikita flashed a snide smirk. "No better to die than being squashed like a meaningless bug." She didn't even need to check his pulse to make sure he was dead. The lack of a heart beat in her ears was good enough. Glancing down at the bottom of her shoe, she scoffed with disgust at the spider's remains sprawled across it. After dragging her shoe along the floor to rid it of the creature, she proceeded to toss her gun back into her bag and took several steps towards the door.

Only to have said door open on its own.

"Mr. Niemi, I have some-" The woman who made her way inside, obviously too hung up on her life to even bother to knock, dropped her paperwork and cried out in horror as she spotted her dead boss in the room. Lovely... Last thing Nikita needed was a witness, but her mind reacted quickly in the moment and the vampire simply kept smirking. She grabbed a hold of the woman and yanked her into the room, kicking the door shut. The woman was already sobbing while she struggled against the vampire's grip, crying uncontrollably and pleading for Nikita to spare her life.

"Afraid I can't give into your request," she informed the woman while pulling out her gun again. "I'm what people like to call an efficient motherfucker, and you, darling-" Cocking the gun back, she shoved it into the woman's mouth and held it as steady as possible. "-are in my fucking way." BANG. And now there was another corpse to add to the office, albeit an unwanted one, though Nikita had her shit together. With the woman's brains blown away, she chucked the woman to the floor and left the desert eagle with the woman in her own hands. Nikita had others like it back home, so there wasn't much to be missed. If it covered her ass and placed the blame on someone else, then all the better.

With her task done, she slipped out of the office, keeping up her mass illusion to cloak herself while flipping out her cellphone. It took her a moment to punch in the proper commands to reach her chauffeur's number with her shaky hands and all, but after several tries she finally got a hold of him. "It's done.... Yes.... I'm heading on my way out right now. You better be there when I come on out or you're being added to the corpse count and I'll drive home myself." As she reached the elevator, completely unseen and unheard by the surrounding workers, she waited for the elevator to open for her before stepping inside, punching in for the ground floor. "Good to hear, I'll see you in a- what?" Blinking, she listened to her grunt repeating his question to her and she merely grinned while the elevator doors closed.

"Of course they won't know. They'll never know."
